Gabriela Padilla, in the essay, titled AI and The Art of Human-like tasting (December 28, 2023). In this essay, the author tackle about the concern regarding to the future robot chef and how it will take over the ability of every person to taste foods. The essay provides a compelling exploration of the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and the human sense of taste, highlighting the significance and potential impact of this research area. According to her AI models can be trained on vast datasets of consumer, feedback, reviews and sensory data which will help companies develop products accommodating specific tastes and preferences. Moreover, she points out that AI models can be used to detect changes in product quality by having the ability to analyze taste profiles. I agree with the author that in industries, knowing humans taste preferences is important. For the reason that I believe industries should know how to identify peoples' taste preferences and the process of it is the most essential one. Because of this, we have this AI models being trained to taste and engage with the art of human-like tasting. However, if we set AI models being our future robot chef, there would be circumstances that humans will think how much capacity does these AI models have to engage with the most essential sense, tasting. There are some things that the author wrote that I find hard to agree with. First I disagree with what the author stated that harnessing AI to anticipate consumer tasks, behavior, and responses to novel food will increase overall customer satisfaction and engagement. Due to the fact that there is no particular evidences that the author give to support her claim believing that using AI to expect people preferences for food. Additionally, I also disagree with the author claim that With this AI models being trained to mimic human taste, I lead to the realization how powerful technologies like artificial intelligence to have the capacity to identify taste. provides a compelling exploration of the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and the human sense of taste, highlighting the significance and potential impact of this research area.
