Third person p.o.v.
"Uwahhh! The water is so cold!" Mari exclaimed, splashing water at a shirtless Tanaka and Kenjirou.
"Hey! I didn't sign up for this! It's too early and I wanna sleep!" Kenjirou said, stomping in the water.
"Hey! Not the hair!" Tanaka groaned, retaliating with more powerful splashes.
"No playing around, you two! Get back to training! We're meant to be here for training, not fun!" Sensei shouted, keeping a watchful eye on them.
"L/N, you know what to work on. Hawks, you as well." He then settled under the shade with the 3-year-old Aoi and 6-year-old Kazu.
"Okay, Sensei!" The girl with h/c hair responded, adjusting her g/v/c bikini before running off, with Hawks trailing behind her.
"Ne, Keigo?"
"Hmmm?"
"Do you think I should make a cage?" The question piqued the ash blonde's interest. "A cage?" he asked, intrigued.
"Yup! A cage!" She confirmed with a nod, watching as the boy eagerly pulled off his cream-colored hoodie and tossed it into the air, a feather whisking it away to where Sensei was.
"I volunteer!" Hawks declared, rushing into the water with excitement as the cool water splashed against his knees.
"Okay! Just stand still!" Y/N instructed. She patted the water, scooping a handful and lifting it into the air. With a focused expression, she moved her hands in a deliberate pattern, her eyes closing as she visualized a box. Her hands traced the outline of the invisible structure, shaping it with precision.
"Hey, hey, hey! This is so cool!" Hawks exclaimed from inside the newly formed water cage, his eyes wide with amazement. He reached out to touch the water walls, marveling at their fluidity. "Woahh! This is so sick!" He reiterated, testing the barrier by sticking his arm through the water wall.
Sensei observed from a distance, nodding approvingly. "Good job, L/N. Now, let's take it a step further," He called out. "Try heating the water walls, but be careful not to let them evaporate."
The teen furrowed her brow, concentrating. "How do I do that, Sensei?"
"Focus on maintaining the temperature just below the boiling point," Sensei explained. "Think of it like a gentle simmer rather than a rolling boil. You need to keep the energy contained within the water molecules without letting them escape as steam. Visualize the heat as a subtle vibration rather than an intense flame."
The teenager nodded, understanding the concept. She took a deep breath and refocused her energy, feeling the water's temperature slowly rise. The water walls began to emit a soft warmth, and a faint steam formed but quickly dissipated.
"Good, good," Sensei encouraged. "Keep that balance. The key is in the control. You want to heat the water just enough to be effective without losing its form."
The h/c girl smiled, proud of her progress. "Got it, Sensei!"
Hours passed, and the training session gradually shifted into a leisurely break. The small group had gotten ice cream and found a wooden picnic bench to sit on while watching the waves roll in.
"I'm done!" Mari exclaimed, jumping up from her seat and licking her fingers clean before darting back towards the water.
"Hey! Wash your hands!" Y/N called after her, holding out a bottle of water and hand sanitizer.
"I'll wash them in the water!" Mari shouted back, not breaking her stride. Hawks chuckled, shaking his head. "She's so real for that," He remarked with amusement earning a harsh slap on the back by the girl in the f/v/c bikini.
"Ewww!" Aoi babbled, clapping her hands. "That's gross, Mari-chan!" Tanaka chimed in, using the water and hand sanitizer to clean his own hands.
"We'll be leaving in half an hour," Sensei announced, looking at the group with a mix of fondness and mild exasperation. "Have your fun, but we'll head straight back afterward." The children nodded at his words, eagerly dashing towards the water for one last splash.
"So much for training," Sensei muttered to himself, a wry smile tugging at his lips. He bounced the purple-haired girl on his lap, who had stubbornly clung to him, refusing to stay at headquarters. Her peaceful sleep had left him with no choice but to bring her along.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden hue over the ocean, Sensei looked out at his students playing in the water. The waves rolled on, carrying away the remnants of the day's efforts, leaving behind a memory of laughter, learning, and a promise of new challenges ahead. And with that, he snapped a picture.
A picture that now hung in a certain birdman's sky-high penthouse.
