I made dinner, went all out,had my table set as if it was a family gathering on Christmas. I wore my red silk dress that had a huge opening at the back,I had most of my skin exposed ,red matt lipstick and my jewellery on me of course. My guests arrived then I offered them seats on the dinner table.
"Chloe..."
"Let me do the talking Thandeka and you listen then I'll give you a chance to talk."
"That's fair." That was Marcus, with so much confidence, eager to hear what I was about to say.
"Thank you for coming. I'm going to try to be as calm as possible when addressing you. I feel so betrayed, I didn't expect it...you Thandeka, you went behind my back, dated my ex and suddenly you are getting married. Now that I'm thinking of it, this is one of the reasons why you were not talking to me. You were afraid, scared of the decision you made. Do you realise that you chose a man over our amity? Worse part you don't come to tell me that you have decided to have my leftovers, such rudeness. Look at you now, are you happy? Do you think he will give you happiness yet he failed to do it to me? But that's not the point." I stared at them then continued, " I'm not as rude as you think I am. I'm forgiving you because true friends forgive each other. I'm giving you my benedictions but I hope I won't regret it."
"Thank you so much Chloe, thank you friend."
"Yeah, thanks Chloe. I want you to know that I'm a changed man,and I do regret what I did, I'm sorry man. I knew you'd come around." They giggled.
"Yeah, he told me."
"Well, let's take this moment to start afresh, forget about the past and be happy. I made food."
"Oh, friend...thank you so much."
"Umm... congratulations then. Let's dig in." Honestly, this dinner wasn't that bad, they respected me, it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be.
"Oh, before you leave, I wanted you to know that I'd be happy to aid with the wedding preparations."
"Thank you so much chomi but we decided that we are going to sign at Home Affairs then have something small with family and friends." Marcus really got into Thandeka's mind. She always wanted a massive and luxurious wedding,I bet Home Affairs was his idea.
"Okay. Good night then."
"Bye babes."
"Good night Chloe."
"Safe travels." They left then I had dishes to wash.
