"Talk to me guys, what happened?"
"The husband shot them then he shot himself too Doc. Unfortunately he's gone. The Child has only one bullet in him as for the mother, it's five if I'm not mistaken." The paramedics were rushing them to the emergency rooms.
"Take her to E4, I'll be responsible for her, then take the kid to E7.Move guys! Let's go! Let's go!Umm... Lisa, Doctor khutsoane will be in any moment, tell him to rush to E4, he'll find me in. I need three interns and two nurses. Got that?"
"Yes Doc."
"The kid will be operated in E7, I'm sure Doctor Cyprus is handling him."
It was terrible, poor lady was shot eight times. She's so lucky that she survived. The story made headlines so the hospital because very busy, journalist can in and out asking for something but all I could say was no comment. I didn't know the full story also the police said they had it under control, besides that, if I said anything about it, I could lose my job because a patient's confidentiality is the first priority. I heard a knock on my office door again.
"No comment! Leave!"
"Doc, it's me...April."
"Come in sweetheart." She made her way in then closed the door then sat down.
"Umm,Doc...so I came across a post, they are looking for an international doctor in Ireland. You said you wanted to leave right so I think this is the one."
"Let me see." She passed her phone to me. "Agh man, Ireland is too far."
"Doc, you have the qualifications, if I were you, I'd grab the opportunity with both hands." April is one of the interns who is brilliant and loves her work. I wanted to keep her closer than the others, the way she does her job and the way she learned reminded me of the young me.
"Tell you what, send me the link and I'll go through it later."
"Consider it done."
"So tell me, how did you feel in theater today?"
"Doc, I was so scared. I was perplexed that such things happen really! I had never seen someone shot like that. But what scared me the most was when you asked me to remove the bullet that was right beside the heart, any mistake I did, she was gone."
"I know, that is why I said you should do it. I believe in you April."
"Thanks Doc. I should get back to work. Other interns are complaining saying that I'm your favorite."
"Well, they are on lying. Please give Lisa this file tell her to try to find any relatives of this patient and she should give the file to Doctor Neeson when she arrives."
"Consider it done Doc. Bye!" She left. I got into my WhatsApp and found the link, I got into it. Ireland...I had to think about it.
