The cozy living room of Sterling's cabin, comfortably furnished and warmly lit by the soft glow of a nearby fireplace. Books and magical artifacts are scattered around, remnants of Greyson’s research and Sterling’s archery equipment. Outside, a light snow falls, creating a peaceful winter scene.
The group had gathered at Sterling’s cabin for a relaxed evening, sharing stories and enjoying each other's company. Greyson had been reading through one of his ancient texts, muttering softly to himself about various spells and incantations. The book, filled with arcane symbols and cryptic instructions, was intriguing to Tixo, who couldn't resist sneaking a peek when Greyson stepped away.
Curiosity got the better of him. Tixo, ever the mischievous Tabaxi, leaned over the book, trying to decipher the strange symbols. Without realizing it, he began to recite a spell under his breath.
The air around them shimmered, and a sudden burst of light filled the room. When it faded, Greyson and Sterling were left standing amidst a scene of chaos. In place of their friends, there were now a group of wide-eyed, bewildered babies.
Ren, Onyx, Xul, Riggs, Ryuji, and Thorne—all transformed into tiny, adorable versions of themselves—blinked up at Greyson and Sterling with innocent, confused eyes. Baby Tixo, with his fluffy ears and tiny tail, looked around in awe. Baby Wei, however, seemed even more disoriented, his small wings fluttering slightly as he tried to make sense of his surroundings.
Sterling sighed, running a hand through his hair. "What just happened?"
Greyson quickly assessed the situation, his eyes narrowing as he realized what must have occurred. "Tixo must have accidentally recited a transformation spell. We'll need to reverse it, but it might take some time."
Meanwhile, baby Tixo crawled over to baby Wei, who was sitting on the floor looking utterly lost. Tixo, with his big, curious eyes, tilted his head and reached out to touch Wei’s wing.
“Hi there! Who are you?” Tixo asked, his voice a high-pitched, childlike version of his usual playful tone.
Wei looked at him, wide-eyed and silent. He seemed to have forgotten everything, including his own name.
Tixo, undeterred, grinned and said, “You look like a sandwich! I’ll call you Sandwich.”
Wei blinked, tilting his head as if trying to understand. “Sandwich?” he echoed, his voice soft and uncertain.
Tixo nodded enthusiastically, his ears twitching with excitement. “Yeah! Sandwich! I’m Tixo!”
Sterling watched the interaction, a smile tugging at his lips despite the situation. “Looks like Tixo is making the best of it,” he remarked to Greyson.
Greyson chuckled softly. “It’s adorable, but we need to find a way to fix this.”
As they began to look through Greyson’s texts for a reversal spell, the babies continued to explore their new surroundings. Baby Ren and Onyx were sitting together, giggling and playing with a small wooden toy they found. Baby Xul and Riggs, despite their tiny forms, maintained their usual dynamic—Xul watching Riggs’ antics with a stoic expression, while Riggs tried to make him laugh.
Baby Ryuji and Thorne were side by side, Ryuji holding onto Thorne’s tiny hand as they crawled around, exploring the room. Thorne, with a small flower crown magically appearing on his head, seemed content, while Ryuji kept a watchful eye on him.
Greyson and Sterling worked quickly, flipping through pages and discussing potential solutions. After a while, Greyson found the counter-spell they needed. He looked at Sterling and nodded. “I think this is it.”
Sterling gathered the babies around, making sure they were all safe and within the circle Greyson had drawn on the floor. Greyson began to chant the reversal spell, the air shimmering once more with magical energy.
With a final burst of light, the transformation was undone. Their friends returned to their normal forms, albeit a bit disoriented. Tixo shook his head, his usual mischievous grin returning as he looked at Greyson.
“Well, that was interesting,” Tixo said, his voice back to its normal playful tone.
Wei, now back to his adult form, looked around, a bit confused but relieved. He glanced at Tixo, who was still grinning at him. “Sandwich?” Wei scribbled in his notepad, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Tixo laughed. “You remembered! You’ll always be my Sandwich.”
The group, now restored, shared a laugh at the bizarre but endearing mishap. Greyson sighed in relief, closing the ancient text and setting it aside. “Let’s try to avoid any more accidental spells, shall we?”
Sterling nodded, a smile playing on his lips. “Agreed. But I have to admit, it was a cute adventure.”
As they settled back into their evening, the warmth of their friendship and the laughter shared over the unexpected transformation made the cabin feel even cozier. And though the spell had caused a bit of chaos, it had also brought them even closer together, with memories of baby adventures that would be cherished for years to come.
