"Oh god!"Jehangir placed his head in his hands as his father rubbed his back.
"Why do you say that Moazzam?"He asked the little boy in front of him as the rest of the family started quietly freaking out.
"Haroon accidentaly told her today,he was just teasing her and suddenly the words popped out of his mouth."Moazzam explained.
"That explains how distant she's seemed since I picked her up."Jehangir stood up and hurried out of the room to his own, where Noor was sleeping.
"Noor."Jehangor shook her slightly,"Noor!"He continued to shake her.
She opened her huge brown eyes and looked at him, squinting because of their puffiness.
"Jaan, why didn't you tell me?"Jehangir's voice cracked as he spoke.
"Baba..."She began but Jehangir cut her off.
"I'm sorry Noori,I should have told you,I'm sorry."Tears welled up in his eyes.
Noor sat up and reached her arms out to him.Once settled on his lap,she wrapped them around him as he craddled her.
"So Haroon wasn't lying?"She looked up at him,her voice a mere whisper.
"No,he wasn't."Jehangir hung his head.
"So Mama really is gone?"Noor's voice was filled with tears.
"Yes,Noor,she is."
"Oh Baba."Noor burried her head into his chest and started crying again,Jehangir rested his chin on her head and her,his own tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Jehangir?"His father entered saying his name softly.Noor shot up,"Jee dada ji?"
"Noori,jaan,your baba..."
"Baba ji's sleeping."
"Oh,and you jaan, are you okay?"He crept up to where she sat.
"Dada jaan, you didn't tell me either."She looked at him, tears pooling from her eyes.
"Jaan, you know why I didn't? Because I knew you would cry,and I don't like to see my princess cry."
"But dada jaan, why did mama have to go?"The look on her face broke his heart.
"I don't know darling,I really don't."He pulled her close and hugged her, resting his chin on her head,"But Noori, you still have your baba, and me,and your dadi, your phupo. We all love you and we're here, jaan, right here."
"But no one's mama!"She looked up at him.
"Noori...your mama, she may not be here,"He pointed to the bed beside her,"but she will always be right here."He tapped a finger on the spot above her heart.
"Not if I don't remember her,I don't even know what she looked like dada ji."
"Well come on."He stood up and held out a hand,Noor clutched it and walked behind him as he led her to his room.
He pulled open his cupboard and reached his hand pretty far into it as Noor stood by,watching silently. He pulled out a box of good size,it was an antique brown, very treasure chest-ish.
He kneeled down next to Noor and flipped open the lid, stopping,he looked at her and smiled,a wavering sad sort of a smile, then looked down again and fished a polaroid out of the box.
He turned it in his hand, examining it closely, then looked at Noor again and sniffed,"Here you go princess."He held it out to her.
Noor reached for it and turned it over, she stared at the picture in front of her wordlessly, then she looked up at her grandfather.
