Forest encounters don't come with choices

Staring up at the sky, hoping to see no light.

I didn't want to be seen as what I would have to explain.

I chose even if there wasn't an option.

Laying on the forest floor wishing I was dead, but instead, I'm being dragged.

Now, the animals can nibble on the flesh he didn't get to before them.

Like a buffet, eat me away.

Little by little, nothing left of me.

I can't see the sky.

There's no light.

Dark black eyes are the only thing I can find.

Hands wrap around me just to hold me down.

Where's the bear when I need him?

Where are the wolves that wanted to eat me?

Can't they kill me before he does it for me.

"Don't wander too far. You know how they are if they find you."

"Carry a gun, but don't point it at them."

"If they do get you, just fight back."

"Yell, scream, cry, and shout. Let anyone else know you're there."

But I was alone. I had a knife hiding in the pocket of my pants.

I walked into the forest, hoping my fate would only end in the jaw ripped to shreds by the sharp teeth on the bear I knew I couldn't fight.

I fought, I begged, I cried out, I did what I could before I was almost dead.

Losing my consciousness.

Flying by looking down at my restless body laying on the ground. No one else was around.

Only the animals could finish me off. Only they could arrive when I was dead.

He came when he noticed a chance for him to take.

Girl versus monster.

Girl versus beast.

Girl versus man.

She'll never win, even when she fights back.

Even when she stands against him with a bear behind her.

I've been hearing the debate online recently. If you were lost in a forest, would you rather encounter a bear or a man. I think my choice is rather obvious.
