for nova, the rest of the week was spent trying to catch up in her classes. while she had tried her best to complete the assignments that tsukishima had brought her over the weekend, it was still hard to do the work since she hadn't been able to listen in on the lectures.

if only she had asked tsukishima to help her while he was at her house... maybe he could have explained his notes to her, similar to how he had helped her before.

"why are you just staring off into space?"

nova blinked and turned to tsukishima, her chopsticks hovering in the air above her bento box.

"i wish i had my phone out right now," tsukishima mumbled, snickering quietly at nova's blank look while he calmly ate his own lunch.

"tsukki," yamaguchi said, a hint of warning in his tone as he tried to hide his small smile from nova. he turned to her and nodded at her food. "not hungry today?"

nova shook her head and put her chopsticks down. "i am never very hungry. i eat because i need to. to survive," she added seriously, staring neutrally at yamaguchi.

"what, is there someone who eats just because they can?" tsukishima asked flatly. yamaguchi ignored him, keeping his gaze on nova with a small frown. "that must be hard... maybe you just haven't found a food you really enjoy yet, though. you eat the same things every day, right? maybe more variety would be good for your taste buds."

"and healthier," tsukishima mumbled.

yamaguchi smiled at nova. "ignore him. he's just upset we have extra training because of the camp coming up."

tsukishima put his headphones on and looked out the window, his negative mood obvious to even her. his moody action was less effective since nova's desk was closest to the window, so she could clearly see the dark rings under his eyes as he turned in her direction. darker than her own, and she hadn't been sleeping well for weeks.

nova pulled her gaze from him and tried to focus on yamaguchi, who was the one actually speaking to her. "i am not sure... i like the food i eat now well enough." her hands had started to play with her fidget cube as she spoke, but they slowed when she heard giggles from up the aisle.

yamaguchi started to say something, but nova's attention was on the girls behind him. a group of girls with suzuki in the middle of them were whispering amongst themselves while looking back at them. to nova, it seemed they were just looking at her though. had they been laughing at her? just then, suzuki looked straight at her.

nova felt her limbs freeze as her red eyes bore into her own. nova could see nothing but disgust in them. then, her thin lips pulled up into a malicious grin.
