The room was filled with the soft hum of nostalgic chatter and the clinking of glasses. Two elderly couples, seated at a large, polished wooden table, reminisced about the good old days. Jeon Hae-jin and In-sook sat opposite Kim Byung-chul and Soon-ja, their faces illuminated by the warm glow of the chandelier above.

"So many years have passed," Byung-chul mused, swirling his wine thoughtfully. "But our friendship has remained as strong as ever."

Hae-jin nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "Indeed. It’s a bond that I hope will continue for generations."

In-sook glanced at her husband before turning to Soon-ja, a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. "What if we made sure of that?"

Soon-ja leaned in, intrigued. "How so?"

In-sook's voice lowered conspiratorially. "A promise. To unite our families in the most profound way. Let's marry our grandchildren."

Silence fell over the table, the weight of the proposition sinking in. Then, a grin spread across Byung-chul's face. "A wonderful idea. Our families will be bonded forever."

Hae-jin raised his glass. "To the future union of our grandchildren, Jeon Jungkook and Kim Jiyoon."

Glasses clinked together, sealing a promise that would shape the destinies of the two unsuspecting children.

The summer sun cast a golden hue over the sprawling countryside as two cars pulled up in front of a quaint, old-fashioned house. Jiyoon's heart raced with excitement as she hopped out of the car, her small hand clutching a worn teddy bear. Her parents, Soomin and Donghyun, followed closely behind, exchanging warm greetings with the Jeon family.

"Jiyoon, come meet the Jeon family," Soomin called, her voice filled with warmth.

Jiyoon peeked shyly from behind her teddy bear, her eyes landing on a boy around her age, who was busy chasing butterflies. He had a playful energy, his laughter ringing through the air.

"Jungkook, come here," Min-hee, Jungkook's mother, beckoned. Jungkook ran over, curiosity sparkling in his eyes.

"Hi, I'm Jungkook," he said, extending a hand, his smile wide and welcoming.

Jiyoon hesitated for a moment before placing her small hand in his. "I'm Jiyoon."

"Do you like butterflies?" Jungkook asked, his eyes bright with enthusiasm.

Jiyoon nodded, a shy smile forming on her lips. "Yes, they're so pretty."

"Come on, let's catch some!" Jungkook exclaimed, grabbing her hand and pulling her towards the meadow.

Their parents watched with smiles as the two children exchanged awkward yet endearing introductions. The day was filled with laughter, games, and the innocent joy of newfound friendship. They chased each other through the fields, played hide and seek, and shared stories under the shade of the ancient oak tree.

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the ground, the two families gathered for a meal, the air filled with the scent of grilled meat and the sound of clinking dishes.

"What's your favorite game?" Jiyoon asked as they sat down to eat.

"Hide and seek!" Jungkook replied enthusiastically. "I'm really good at hiding. What about you?"

"I like tag," Jiyoon said, her eyes twinkling. "But I'm not very fast."

"That's okay," Jungkook said, grinning. "I'll help you get faster."

Jiyoon's grandfather, Byung-chul, looked at the children with a knowing smile. "Look at them, so full of life. I hope they remain as close as they are today."

Hae-jin nodded. "They will. Our promise will ensure it."

Unbeknownst to Jiyoon and Jungkook, their innocent friendship was just the beginning of a journey that would lead them through trials and tribulations, love and heartbreak, all bound by a promise made in the warmth of a summer evening.

As the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, Jiyoon and Jungkook sat side by side, oblivious to the weight of the promise their grandparents had made. For now, they were simply two children enjoying a perfect summer night, unaware of the path that lay ahead.

"I hope we can be friends forever," Jiyoon said softly, looking up at the sky.

"Me too," Jungkook replied, squeezing her hand. "Let's be together, forever."
