When Killian gets a worried call from David, he knows something is not okay with Emma. She wasn't at home for dinner - as her father said -, although she said she would be. He also knows where to find her. It seems if she doesn't feel alright, she ends up at the sheriff station doing unnecessary paperwork.

He doesn't know what could be wrong this time. They defeated the Snow Queen, banished Gold and managed to get Elsa, Anna and Kristoff home. They should be happy and live their lives, but with Emma, it's never that easy.

So, he's not surpised to find her at the station. What surprises him is that she's not doing paperwork, she's looking at that box from her past instead. She's really focused, she doesn't even notice Killian approaching her.

"Swan?"

She immediately lifts her head, looking at him with teary eyes. She usually smiles when she sees him, but not this time, and it scares Killian.

"Um, hey." She mutters, clearing her throat. "What's up?"

He looks at the box and then back to Emma. She holds some kind of diary, and he knows what she's doing. She's tormenting herself with the memories of her past, wants to feel the pain.

"Okay, that's enough, Emma." He takes the diary from her, and she doesn't protest. "We are going for a walk."

He grabs her hand, pulling her out of that bloody room, aren't letting her to hurt herself more. They walk quietly, none of them saying a word, but fingers interlaced. He checks on her in every ten seconds, looking for some kind of change in her expression. But she shows no emotion, just stares the road in front of them.

He stops once they reach a calm spot near the docks, and makes her sit down so they could talk.

"Do you want to tell me what's all that was about?" He asks finally, and they're still holding hands. Moreover, she grabs his hook with her other hand, and it makes him shiver how comfortable she's with that cursed object.

"I just..." She begins, unsure. "Now, that everything is calm, I have time to deal with the emotions I pushed away."

He squeezes her hand to encourage her to go on. "And although I've forgiven my parents, some wounds are too deep and painful to forget."

He understands that all too well. He still has nightmares about his brother dying or her father leaving them.

"You don't have to forget them. They made you the person who you are know." And who I love, he wanted to add, but it's too soon for those words.

"Yeah, it's just... this whole family thing is still new. Having dinner together, talking about nonsense, watching Netflix... It's just weird. And scary." She explains, and mentioning Netflix makes him chuckle.

"You keep mentioning this Netflix thing, and I have no idea what you're talking about." She laughs at that, because she sometimes forgets how old he is.

"Well, I have all the time in the world to show you, right?" She teases him with his own words, and his heart skips a beat.

"That you do." He leans closer to kiss her, and they stay like that for a couple of minutes. Emma groans when he pulls away, but he just answers with a victorious grin. "As much as I enjoy kissing you, Swan, you have to go home. It's late, your parents are probably worried."

She lets out a defeated sigh, stands up, and starts walking towards the loft. The slightly cool breeze sends down shivers on her spine, but she says nothing.

They fall into silence again. It's Killian who breaks it, asking something carefully.

"That notebook you read earlier...What is it?"

She looks worried for a moment, but as Killian squeezes her hand, she relaxes again.

"It's a diary. I wrote it when I was sixteen. It's about the first time I fully realized that my parents gave me up." She says, and as she finishes, they reach the loft. She presses a lingering kiss to his lips, and releases his hand. "Thank you, Killian. I don't know what I would do without you." She kisses him again, and enters the loft before he could answer.

The next day, he lets out a laugh when he sees that diary in his bedside table magically appearing. There's also a note with Emma's handwriting.

Because 'you wanted to know more about my beginnings'.

By the way, you are welcomed to join Henry and me this afternoon and watch Netflix.
