“Analya it will be okay, I promise, we will find a way to survive,” Na-alya’s soft voice filtered through her younger twin’s sobs.

“But how? We are homeless the house was left to charities and we cannot access the bank account until we are twenty-one, that is in three years, even if our birthday is coming up,” The discouraged sobs went on, Naly as her younger twin would call her stood up determined. She would work herself to the bone to give her sister the life she once had.

“Come on Ana lets gather our stuff the house will soon no longer be ours; we must hurry.” The younger black-haired twin finally dried her eyes and cheeks with her sister’s words realizing that she was right and this moment was not the time to morn.

They walked together towards their parent’s room, Naly opened the door and they sighed in unison, sadness tainted the air dark and as they stepped in Ana noticed her sister’s bright golden hair become dull and gloomy.

“What’s this?” Ana asked as she walked over to the nightstand and picked up a piece of folded paper. “Our names are written on it,” her blue eyes met the blue ones of her twin.

Na-alya took the paper and rested on the edge of the bed Ana sat down beside her. Slowly, wondering what was inside Naly opened the paper.

“Our sweetest daughters, if you are reading this that means we have already left you, we gave everything away to charities so you must feel unworthy, but don’t be disheartened my children we left the money for you and a little cabin off grid it is fully stocked with furnishing’s so you will only need your essentials. There you may begin your journey without us. It might be hard trying to clean up the old place because we haven’t been there for a long time but take heart and remember we will always love you no matter what and you must love each other. Here is a map to the cabin follow it precisely and you will be there within two days. With everlasting love Mother and Father.”

When the letter ended Ana said, “But where is the map all I see is a riddle, unless the riddle is the map. Three states to the east, four miles in, seven miles north, down the first gravel drive through the weeds and there it is.”

“Um that don’t sound very promising, are we sure this will lead us to the cabin in two days?” Naly asked Ana shrugged, “Well what do we have to lose let’s find which state we’ll be living in,” pulling out her phone she found maps and counted three states over.

“Kentucky? Really that’s where we’ll be living?” Ana asked.

“Why is it not exciting?” Naly asked with a teasing grin.

“It’s not that, it’s just random, we’ve never been to Kentucky or had anything to do with it.” Ana said looking at the paper once more, “Can we see where four miles into Kentucky is and seven miles north?

“Yeah, it like in the middle of nowhere. I’ll mark it so we know where we’re going,” Naly said as she marked the spot in the middle of nowhere.

“Because we’re actually going?” Ana asked in curious disbelief.

“Yes what other option do we have? We only have a suitcase each; we’ll check the place out and see if we like it, ok? If we don’t like it we’ll figure something else out,” Naly convinced.

“Ok fine, I’ll come along.” Ana begrudgingly stood walking to the door, “Well come on lets pack for this trip to nowhere.”
