The group arrived at the Asterdelle Veterinary Clinic, a bustling facility known for its top-notch care. Tixo was clearly agitated, his tail twitching nervously as he was carried by Wei, who was trying to calm him down.
“I’m telling you, I don’t need to go,” Tixo protested, his voice full of fear. “I’m perfectly fine!”
Ren, trying to be reassuring, placed a hand on Tixo’s shoulder. “It’s just a check-up, Tixo. It’s important to make sure you’re healthy.”
As they entered the clinic, the receptionist and nurse were waiting for them. The nurse, a no-nonsense type with a stern expression, greeted them with a clipboard. “Alright, let’s get this over with. I need to take Tixo for his preliminary examination.”
Tixo struggled and tried to wriggle free. “No way! I’m not going in there!”
The nurse sighed, clearly frustrated with Tixo’s resistance. “We’re just going to check you out, it’s not a big deal.”
Tixo continued to protest, his movements becoming increasingly frantic. In his attempt to escape, he accidentally kicked the nurse in the face. She staggered back, her patience wearing thin. Her dragon features—scales, a hint of fangs, and a fiery glare—emerged as she glared at Tixo.
“You little shit!” the nurse snapped, her voice dripping with anger. “And you’re such a twink, too!”
Before the situation could escalate further, **Dr. Liora**, the veterinarian, stepped in. She was known for her calm demeanor and expert handling of animals and their companions.
“What’s going on here?” Dr. Liora asked, her voice authoritative but kind.
The nurse, still fuming, explained, “This one refuses to cooperate and kicked me in the face. I was just about done with him.”
Dr. Liora frowned at the nurse, then turned her attention to Tixo. “It’s alright, Tixo. Let’s calm down and get through this together. I promise it won’t be as bad as you think.”
Tixo looked at Dr. Liora with a mix of fear and hope. “Really? You won’t be mean to me?”
Dr. Liora gave him a reassuring smile. “No, I’m here to help. Let’s get you checked out so you can feel better.”
With Dr. Liora’s calming presence, Tixo began to relax. The nurse, still visibly annoyed, was scolded by Dr. Liora for her unprofessional behavior. After a brief discussion, the nurse retreated to another part of the clinic, allowing Dr. Liora to proceed with the examination.
Dr. Liora gently examined Tixo, speaking in soothing tones. “See, that wasn’t so bad, was it? You’re a brave one.”
As the examination wrapped up, Tixo sighed with relief. “Thanks, Dr. Liora. I’m sorry for causing such a scene.”
Dr. Liora patted him gently. “No need to apologize. It’s normal to be scared. You did great.”
The group thanked Dr. Liora and left the clinic with Tixo looking considerably more at ease. They all agreed that despite the rocky start, it was good to have the check-up over with.
As they walked back to the cabin, Tixo seemed grateful for the support from his friends and the kindness of Dr. Liora. The incident at the clinic became a humorous story they’d recount in the future, a reminder of how much they cared for one another, even in the most unexpected of situations.
