The rain hit the dirty window hard, showing the storm in Algeree Lexton's heart. In the dim light, she saw her reflection looking back at her, with sad eyes. Her old apartment felt tight and heavy, a reminder of her hard times. Her life, once full of hope, was now a struggle to survive.

It all went wrong after her father's untimely death. Her stepmom, who seemed nice, turned out to be mean. She made Algeree's home a place of hurtful words. Now, Algeree had to handle college and working at a diner, all while trying to shield her oldest sister, Alexandra, from the harsh realities of their world.

But Alexandra, a ray of sunshine in Algeree's bleak existence, was now gone.  Kidnapped.  The news had shattered Algeree's already fragile world, leaving her with a gaping emptiness that threatened to consume her.  Desperate, she had reached out to the only person who could offer a glimmer of hope: Nurdan Marsian, a man with a reputation as dangerous as it was alluring.

Nurdan's eyes, like storm clouds, scared and interested Algeree. His smile promised good and bad things. He offered to help find Alexandra using his connections and unusual ways. But Algeree was unsure, feeling like she was making a dangerous deal.

Then, a baby came into Algeree's life, unexpected but sweet. She felt drawn to the baby's innocence. She was torn between saving her sister and avoiding Nurdan, who could set her free. The rain outside matched the storm in Algeree's heart. She knew her choices would decide her sister's fate, and maybe her own.
