- 009, Witness: Protection -

SMITHY and Becca sat next to each-other as Jack spoke about Carly's case but all Becca could think about was last night, about how Smithy had called her 'babe'. She couldn't stop thinking about, maybe she was being delusional, maybe it was a bit stupid of her to think of it like that, but she felt a connection, a connection that she didn't feel with anyone else.

Smithy glanced over at her, noticing that her pupils were dilated. He nudged her shoulder which snapped her out of her daze, he chuckled softly and then smiled, pointing over at Jack. Becca shook her head and took a deep breath, focusing herself back on what was on the agenda. Nate glanced over at her, winking at her followed by a grin, he pointed over at Max who was staring at her, his expression soft.

She waved at him, giving him a small smile. Smithy cocked his head at both Max and Becca, feeling a twinge of jealously. He clenched his jaw as he tried to calm himself down, not wanting to make it obvious he was jealous of the two. He folded his arms and turned back to Jack, listening to his words.

"Uh okay. His place of work, The Abbot's pub, and all his usual haunts need checking out." Jack announced, looking over at Smithy. "Smithy?"

"Yeah, Bex and Nate. I want you to go to the Abbots" Smithy says, looking over at the two, Nate turning to face Bex and Smithy. "Talk to his boss. See if he's discussed any plans with anyone." he adds on, spinning in his chair.

"Sarge." Nate nodded, turning his attention back towards Jack.

"Although we didn't pull in Dwayne Fox last night, we did manage to get two bits of vital evidence from both the flats." Jack states as he walks over towards a whiteboard. "CSE have confirmed that trainers found at Dwayne's flat match the footprints at the canal..." he says as a phone rings in the background. "...near where the first weapon was found." He pauses before talking again. "We've also retrieved Tito's mobile. Which we're checking it with the Cell Site to see if we can track his movements the night of the shooting."

"Sorry guv. Dwayne Fox's mum, Beverley is in the front office." Diane suddenly announced, looking over at Max once she'd finished talking.

"Max, get back to me when you've talked to her." Jack pointed as Max nodded and got up, beginning to walk away from the meeting. He suddenly turned around to Bex and motioned for her to come outside.

Bex slowly followed, clearly confused. "What's up?" she asked as she folded her arms, leaning on the doorway. "want me to speak to Beverly?"

"No..uh, I was wondering if you wanted to go out for a drink sometime." Max questioned, rubbing his hands together. "I'd get if you didn't want to."
