Eric took his daily stroll down the garden. It was how he cleared his head. He had a lot to think about today. Grimsby made a promise to Eric's father before he died that he would find Eric a wife.
Eric was never fond of any of the princesses. He always chocked it up to not really knowing the girls. He didn't want to marry the first girl that walked through the door, he wanted to be in love. In love and happy.
He knew that's what Grimsby wanted for him too, but the promise he made to his late father went over every belief that he had about the world. Grimsby would find Eric a wife. Ever since the king died, it was his life's mission.
Eric ran back to the castle to find Grimsby and tell him what he heard. Running up sand is quite the workout, plus all the stairs you have to the also run up. The trek was nothing but a 5 minute walk back to the castle, arguably running is slower than walking in this instance. But Eric needed to make arrangements with his crew to set up the boat for there next journey.
Eric approached the front door of the castle just in time to see Grimsby walk out the front door with a pot of soil and a bag of seeds. Grimsby, shocked by the sudden appearance of the prince, dropped the pot causing it to shatter with a loud crash. Eric's face turned bright red when he noticed what he had caused.
"I'm so sorry Grimsby, I'll clean it up right now!" Eric dropped to his knees, frantically grabbing pieces of broken porcelain eand dirt.
"It's ok, Eric, there are other pots in the shed. Why are you so exasperated," Grimsby said. Grimsby grabbed Eric by the arm and pulled him back to his feet. His hands were cold and dry against his arm. Eric looked up at his second in command, his hand stay on his arm. It felt like they were looking at eachother forever before Grimsby said,
"Eric, what's the matter?" Eric almost forgot why he had come to find PS Grimsby. "I heard the voice again," Eric said. Grimsby looked at Eric with pity. "I told you Eric, nrm hug meow it's all in your head." Grimsby also had heard the voice, but fueling false hope on Eric's heart was not apart of the plan to get Eric married.
Eric knew what he heard. He wasn't crazy. "Grimsby, if you want me to marry, you need to help me find that voice." Grimsby really did not want to help Eric with this, it would take forever, and Eric's birthday was in just under 3 days. But Grimsby would do anything for Eric, he was his best friend. "Ok fine, I'll help you," Grimsby gave in. He had to do this for Eric, even if it went no where.
"Good, get the crew together, I'm going to get the ship ready." Grimsby thought this would be a dead end. But, just this once, Grimsby would entertain the idea before Grimsby would force him to do something he did not want to.
