I was riding my bike alongside the sidewalk, to my right the beautiful ocean in all its glory. I approach a stop sign, deciding to take a break. Memories began to flood my mind. Memories of me and my best friend who stood in this place just a year ago after graduation from high school. Now standing there alone, I feel a sudden emptiness inside. He was the only friend I ever had in all my years of existence. No, I don't consider him a friend, but a brother. Not from blood, but of shared pain and trust. I could socialize with people, but at the end of the day, they were just colleagues or classmates. He was the only one who we clicked instantly. Tears began to run down my face. Beautiful memories they were. It's sad to see how life changes after you graduate from high school.
I gave one last look at the ocean, before I was about to leave when a stranger came up to me:
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Ah, yes, I'm okay. It's just a sudden rush of nostalgia, and... memories."
