"Ruin her wedding! Why would I do that?" I exclaim in disbelief. I know Emily doesn't like me, but accusing me of ruining Calista's wedding is just too much."Oh, come on! Stop acting all innocent. I knew you weren't good enough the moment you stepped into this house, but I never imagined you'd be a wedding whacker," Emily retorts.
"Enough, Emily! Just shut up!" Richie shouts at her. "What the hell is wrong with you? You can't talk to Rachel like that."
Emily doesn't say anything after that, and honestly, I don't even bother responding to her. All I care about is Calista. I can see that she's hurt, even though I don't fully understand what she's going through. I walk towards her, wanting to comfort her, but she moves away, not wanting me to touch her.
Just when I'm about to reach out, Abel's voice interrupts, soft and calm. "Not now, Rachel,"
Calista sniffles, her tears evident as she finally looks at me. Her eyes are slightly swollen from the tears she just shed.
"Rachel, why?" she asks, her voice filled with sadness. "I consider you like a little sister to me. I can't imagine ever doing something to hurt you. But even if I did, you could have told me, and I would have apologized," she say, standing up from the couch. Abel stands beside her.
"An apology could have fixed everything. But you didn't want that. You wanted something more, something that would hurt me for life. That's why you did this to me," Calista continues, her voice low and soft, but clear and calm. "I know I didn't tell you the main reason why I wanted to keep the wedding private, but you knew how important it was to hide it from the media, and yet you still told them."
As she speaks, I shake my head, feeling her solitary sadness. I understand how she's feeling right now, but she's mistaken. I could never do something like that to her, not even in my wildest dreams.
"Calista, I didn't tell the public about your wedding. I would never do that," I say, gently placing my hand on her shoulder to try to calm her down.
Calista gently takes my hand off. "You don't have to pretend, Rachel. We all know what you did, and to be honest, I'm not saying this because I want an apology or anything. I'm just saying this because I want to know why. It hurts me to even think that I made you do this," she says, her voice filled with sadness.
"No, you didn't do anything, Calista," I assure her, trying to ease her burden.
"I wish it was true, but it's not. If I didn't hurt you, you wouldn't have done this to me,"
"Stop blaming yourself, Calista. It's not your fault. Rachel is a witch, you don't need to hurt her before she hurts you," Emily chimes in, showing her support.
"Look, Calista, I swear on everything, I didn't do anything. I would never do something to make you sad," I say, completely ignoring Emily's accusations.
"Oh please stop with your nonsense lies, you've already done the worst you can do now stop lying. You already ruined everything Rachel and thanks to you Calista's family and ex-husband now know about the wedding, and they'll do anything to stop it," Emily shouts at me, her frustration evident.
"Enough, Emily!" Richie interjects, defending me. "What's wrong with you all? Why are you accusing her?"
"Look Richie, I know I can be a bit skeptical, but I won't accuse someone of something they didn't do, even if that someone is Rachel," Emily rolls her eyes as she says my name. "Earlier today, I overheard Rachel talking to someone on the phone."
