Sarahi's pov

Angelica sighed dramatically as she rested her chin in the cup of her hands over the counter. She wasn't having the best day considering her boyfriend just dumped her. I felt bad for her because she really loved him but he just up and left out of nowhere. I didn't get it. Why do people just waste other peoples time just to leave them in the end. Or before it could even end actually.

She had been moping around all day. It was kind of a mood killer but I understood so I wasn't exactly complaining about it. She still was strong enough to come to work so kudos to her.

"Bill!" Angelica muttered, sitting a coffee down on the counter. She rolled her eyes at the man as he grabbed his drink, "Thank you, ma'am." He smiled at her. "Yeah, whatever." She walked away, leaving the man confused at her actions.

"Sorry." I apologized for her. "That was kind of rude, Angelica.." I went up to her.

She rolled her eyes, "No, do you want to know what's rude?" She threw down the towel she was using to wipe the counter with, "What's rude is Karter dumping me for finding out he was cheating. Like, you're mad at me for some shit you were doing?" She progressively got louder, making me jump back a bit.

"Um—"

"And then he had the nerve to bring up what I did in the past? Like I thought we were over that..." She started walking towards me, making me back up even more.

"Um, Angelica—"

"WHAT?" She screamed at me.

"Angelica! Leave her alone! Get back to work." Our manager, Max, scolded her.

Angelica rolled her eyes, "He needs to stay out of our conversation. We're just two mexican girls sticking together, right?" She scoffed.

"Oh um—I'm Dominican—" I tried to get out but she had walked off.

The bell rang, indicating somebody tapped it for assistance. Without looking, I sighed, walking up to the counter, "I'm sorry, how may I help you—Oh, hi." I gave Paige a small smile.

She stood there with just the friendliest smile on her face, "Did you get my text?" She didn't waste anytime getting straight to the point.

I didn't text her back last night because I didn't really know what to say. I didn't mind hanging out with her but I just seriously didn't know what to text back. I was an over thinker and I didn't want my message to come across the wrong way or embarrass myself, "I did."

"You didn't text me back..I don't understand." Paige scrunched up her face. "You don't like me? I'm confused."

"What?" I was kind of taken back by the words coming out her mouth. We didn't even know each other that much for her to be acting this way. So for her to say she was confused, confused me even more, "I don't understand, Paige." I said, shaking my head.

"I just want you to text me back." Paige said, giving me no type of explanation.

"What does that mean?" I muttered.

"It means I want you to text me back." She let out a laugh, "What time do you get off work?" She asked as she took a seat at the bar.

"Um, 5, today."

"Cool. I'll be picking you up. We're hanging out today." She said.

I shook my head, "I don't think that will be necessary. Thank you, though. Lots of studying." I lied. I thought she was cool but if I was being honest, I didn't want to hang out with her. Not because I didn't like her but because I wasn't good with getting to know people. I just wish she could read my mind and understand that it was nothing personal.
