Today was supposed to be normal. Just a normal, regular day. That is until I bumped into her. As I looked up to apologize my breath hitched as I looked up into beautiful emerald eyes. As I subconsciously gazed into her eyes she looked over to her friends, snickering. "You good nerd" she said, a teasing tone to her voice. I nervously looked away, mumbling a quick yes. Butterflies flew around aggressively as I walked away, while my heart wanted me to walk right back to her. I shook my head embarrassed for myself. Slipping into English and taking my seat, I took my stuff out. My mind continuously goes back to those bright green eyes. As i was lost in thought my best friend, Jemma, came up behind me tickling my sides. "Boo" she proclaimed as I laughed at her. She took her seat beside me, pulling her stuff while saying," hey beautiful" sparing i a quick smile. As I smiled back I found myself quickly falling into a conversation with her. As she rambled about some boy she was talking to, my eyes landed on the door as she walked in. long, blond hair put up in a messy bun, tshirt and sweats on, and those oh so beautiful green eyes swept the room before landing on mine. I looked away, praying she didn't see you. But of course she did cause that's just my luck. She walked by me, the smell of firewood and apples flowing by me. I looked up to follow her figure, watching her sit in the back with a kid named Liam, who I guess is her best friend. Before looking away again, you see those breathtaking eyes find mine again, almost as if she hoped I was looking. Gasping quietly, I look back at Jemma, once again finding interest in her words. But I can feel those eyes boring into my back, and it takes everything in me not to look back at her. The teacher walks up to the front of the classroom, rambling on about a project you have to do in groups of four. As I turn to Jemma, I feel a presence behind me. As I go to turn around, Jemma raises an eyebrow, obviously curious about who the mystery kid is. Coming eye to eye with green eyes again I quake an eyebrow. "Hey?" I question, wondering if she just wanted to talk to you, the thought making my stomach turn in flips. "Hey so like we only have 2, and obviously you have 2, so wanna just join together?" she asks, a glint in her eye I just can't seem to place. "If that works for you then sure" Jemma answers for me. I look back at her, silently thanking her. She introduces herself as Evelyn, or just Eve. The name fits in my opinion but you have no say. She looks at you, a look across her face that I just can't quite place. She smiles," angel right? I've heard about you. You came out of the closet last year right?" she says with a mischievous grin. I look down embarrassed, because yes I did come out. It wasn't easy at all for me, in fact it was horrible due to my parents being insanely religious. Overtime they got over it, and so did the whole school but that didn't stop it from still haunting me to this day. The bell rings and you quickly walk away when you feel a hand on your shoulder. I turn around, half expecting Jemma, but she stands there. She apologizes, looking really upset with herself.
"Its ok, just a touchy subject is all"
"Oh that makes it worse" she chuckles. I giggle. There is no way she's talking to me right now Oh My Goddddd! She interrupts me with a slight grin," your gonna be late to class shortie." OH MY GOD! I sprint down the hallway and I hear a laugh and oh if that laugh doesn't stop my knees might just buckle under themselves.
Barely making it to class, I doubled over attempting to breathe, and taking my seat. As I sit I fantasize about those green eyes. I can't stop thinking about them as she smiled at me, as if I deserved it. As I daydreamed I wondered how those eyes look when she laughed, how long it'll take for her to laugh at something I said. The rest of the school day went by in a blur, and I met up with Jemma and Scarlett, my other best friend, before scanning the hallway. There she was, white fitted shirt, black sweats that fit her perfectly, that smile that can put the sun to shame. And those eyes, god those eyes. I realized something, I never got to know anything about her, and all you wanted was to know her. As she walked up you gave her a smile.
"So where are we doing this project?" you ask, sparing a glance at liam and some other guy with her. "Uh." she starts" i guess we can do it at my house. Do you do anything after school?"
I give a quick smile, pride swelling in my chest,"I'm the captain for the Soccer team. Do you?"
"Basketball for now and then in spring I play Softball"
I look away shyly, smiling,"Alright so we can meet up after our practices end. See you then?"
As I turn on my heel she grabs my attention by calling out my name. Turning around she asks for my number. i nod, embarrassed i forgot,"yea oh my god im sorry"
"Its fine"
We exchanged numbers and I went to walk away. Turning back once to see her on her phone, right then my phone dings with a text from her number saying just a few words, but those words make my heart flutter in a way that doesn't seem normal. The text reads a simple "see you after practice nerd" but that doesn't seem to stop the butterflies in my stomach when i read it.
