Underneath Musutafu in the city's sewer systems, a lightning bolt joined Gon and the girls. On dissipation, Killua stood with his sister Alluka in his arms. He let her down.

"That was fun, big brother!"

"Wow Killua! That was amazing. You were even much faster than when..." Gon stopped. Remembering the time Killua sped like lightning to try and save him reminded him of memories he'd rather keep suppressed.

"Your proficiency bending lightning is much better than even Azula," Katara noted. "Are you from the Fire Nation?" The hostility in her voice from the last statement was very apparent. She stood defensively in front of Toph, the water in the nearby sewers raised defensively.

"Relax Katara! If he was from the Fire Nation, wouldn't it make sense that he'd help Azula, rather than us?"

Katara let the water drop back.

"What's the Fire Nation?" Alluka asked.

Toph and Katara were dismayed. "How do you guys not know about the Fire Nation? Have you been living under a rock?" Toph wondered. The boys didn't answer, though they were quite confused.

"The Fire Nation committed the worst genocide in the world. And they waged a hundred year war that killed many people," Katara explained. "How is this something you've never heard of?"

Toph gasped in excited realization. "Katara I got it. We're in the future!" Toph squealed. "We're so far ahead that people completely forgot about the 100-Year War."

"That would make sense!" the waterbender noted. She remembered the Dark Magician's card ability. Maybe that's advanced airbending? Then remembered Eye-slip's oil shot. And waterbending can now do oil? It was hard to wrap her head around, but it wasn't impossible. But did people really forget about the suffering the world went through under the tyranny of the fire lord?

"You're from the past?" Gon asked curiously.

"They're either trying to trick us, or their completely insane. Either way, I say we ditch them and try to find our bearings," Killua argued.

"But if they're really from the past, that would be so cool, wouldn't it?" Gon wondered.

"And if they're lying or insane?"

"Doesn't matter. Either way, I think it'll be fun!"

"Yeah, big brother! Let's team up with the Water Lady and the Rock Girl!" Alluka agreed.

Killua let out a frustrated grunt. "The plan remains the same. We find a map so we can orient ourselves. Once we figure out where we are, we can deal with the time travelers."

The team headed to the surface, guided by Gon's nose and Toph's legs. Katara and Killua continued to bicker along the way, though Gon, Alluka, and Toph got along quite well. Toph was completely convinced that they had traveled to the future and asked Gon a lot of questions about his and Killua's abilities, though Gon had to admit he didn't know much.

When they got to the surface, Killua secured new clothes for the girls from ropelines in between two apartments arguing that they needed to blend in the crowd to avoid getting caught.

On the surface, Gon and Alluka explained cars and skyscrapers to the girls, as well as phones, and neon lights. Killua was still convinced they were putting on an act, wondering when they'd give it up. But they were at least good at keeping it up. As they navigated the streets, they noticed large crowds being directed by more costumed people, who Gon explained to be superheroes.

Whilst Gon befriended the girls, Killua focused on trying to understand what was going on. From the conversations he could hear, these were people who had been displaced by the explosions.

"These rescue shelters are gonna get full at this rate," a man said from the crowd.

"Hey stop shoving!" another snapped.

The entrance to the rescue shelter looked like a subway entrance and getting into the rescue shelter was quite easy because they were kids. They were checked in by the pros, five of whom were assigned to protect the building. There was a first aid center, some supply stands, and a large area for sleeping. The kids were giving sleeping bags and asked to choose a place to sleep.

Whilst Killua initially suggested that they stay closer to the entrance so that they can react to any attacks, he realized that Toph's ability meant that they could always create their escape routes. They opted to stay in the back of the room, just far enough so that the restrooms were not trouble, but close enough that Katara could draw water from them.

"Hey what's that?" Katara asked, pointing to the TVs on the wall.

"Oh that's a television," Gon stated. "They let you see recordings of stuff. They're like radios but with pictures. You can just call them TVs."

"A TV, huh?" Katara muttered as she looked up to the television.

"Six explosions of varying magnitude occurred around the city in the dark of the night, destroying several city buildings and displacing over 5000 people," the female newscaster said, showing images of the various sites. "Heroes dispatched to these locations to find any villains and save civilians. The biggest skirmish however occurred on Takoba Beach, where All-Might and three other pro-heroes teamed up to subdue a large team of villains."

Killua and Katara had been paying close attention to the news, as the newscaster detailed the events from that night.

We also arrived after such an explosion. That was the same thought Killua and Katara had. Whilst the former wondered who brought them there, the latter, judging from the news assumed that the captured were villains like Azula. She wondered about her new companions. Gon was very childish and sincere. He reminded her a lot of Aang. But the one she really wondered about was the other one... Killua. His cynicism reminded her of her brother, Sokka. But there was something about him that unnerved her... like with Zuko.

"Hey Gon, watch this!" Katara heard Toph say. Killua's eyes widened as the ground turned into a bunch of beds. "Beds for everyone!" Toph cheered.

"Cool!" Gon cheered on seeing the beds. Though the base was rock, the top was covered with smooth pebbles so that it looked almost tiled.

Killua appeared next to them almost instantly. "What's wrong with you idiots? How is this keeping a low profile?"

"Who are these kids?" "That's amazing!" "Beds! They're so comfortable!'

"And now, everyone is looking at us," Killua complained, when he realized that all eyes in the room were on them. They had also gotten the attention of one of the pro-heroes who was protecting the rescue center, the Gross Hero: Upchuck. He was a rotund older man with an egglike face.

"You kids know that you're not allowed to use your quirks out in public like that right? Especially not on essential public services?"

Killua stepped in, scratching the back of his head. "Sorry. We're pro-hunters from a different country... You guys call them heroes here right?" He had his hunter license out and gave it to the pro-hero.

The pro-hero couldn't recognize the card. "Was this issued by the WHA? I don't recognize it. Who's your supervisor?"

"We're actually on vacation," Killua chuckled. "My friends are just a bit too eager to practice and help out. They kinda felt bad about all these people having bad lodgings and just wanted to help."

"Yeah, but you can't just do whatever you want," the hero told them. "If people get hurt because of your quirk, it's something you have to take responsibility for. Don't do it again!"

With that, the pro-hero returned to his post, handing back Killua's hunter's license. He glared at Gon who muttered apologetically.
