Taylors POVI'm clearing all of Travis's stuff out of my New York apartment, I decided after weeks of sulking around I would do something good with my time.
We had called it quits about a month ago after weeks of endless arguments and unresolved disputes. We both had gotten really angry at each other and said many unforgettable things about and to each other. If I could go back and not say the things I did then I would do it in a heartbeat but, unfortunately that's not how things work.
I fill another cardboard box full of his things so I fold it up and carry it downstairs where all the other boxes are. Grabbing another and walking back up to our— my bedroom, starting the process all over again.
I start mindlessly packing things that had his manly touch away, almost missing the sound of my phone ringing.
I scramble onto my feet and hit answer before lifting the phone to my ear.
"Hey Blake." I say sitting down on the bed.
"Hey Tay, just wanted to check up on you, see how you're doing with the break up. No one's heard from you." She says in a soothing tone, as if she's trying not to poke the bear.
"Yeah it's fine, I'm fine. I was actually just packing his things into boxes when you called. Sorry for not reaching out, it's just been a lot." I say sliding down from the bed to the floor, now using the bed as a backrest as I open his nightstand drawer.
"It's okay, we know you're going through a hard time right now but at least text us and let us know you're alive." Blake giggles from the other end of the phone.
"Well I can assure you I am alive and plan on staying alive. How are the babies?" I ask her, putting the phone on speaker so I can continue my project.
"Well James and Inez have decided to become partners in crime and terrorize Betty and Olin for literally zero reason but Tay you have to get out here to see Olin soon, he's getting so big, the other day he...."
Blake's words trail off into silence as my eyes narrow down on the small burgundy notebook, tucked into the second drawer, piled under a bunch of useless cords that Travis insisted on keeping.
I remember seeing him write in it quite often but whenever I asked what it was he just smiled and said I'd find out one day then guided the conversation elsewhere.
I brush the cords off and pick it up out of the drawer. Running the tips of my fingers over the soft leather cover, hesitating a bit before pulling the tight elastic band to the side so I can open it, pulling back the cover to unveil the very first page. It only has a few words on it, it's Travis's hand writing. I could recognize his writing anytime, it was messy scribbles that somehow was so easy to read.
But as soon as I looked at the words my heart stopped, or speed up. I can't really tell. The words circling my vision making me feel like I'm in some sort of lucid dream.
To my beautiful Taylor Alison Swift (Kelce)
Seeing his last name in parentheses next to mine brought tears to my eyes. I sealed them shut tightly, not letting the tears fall.
"Hey Blake can I call you back tomorrow?" I say unknowingly cutting her off.
"Yeah of course, just don't forget okay? I missed hearing your voice." She says as I take a deep breath, tipping my head back as I nod.
"I promise I will, I love you Blake." I whisper sincerely.
"I love you too Tay. You always have a home with us if you need to get away." She says and we hang up.
