Readers note: this is my first time sharing my writing with the public, I would really like some constructive criticism to help me improve. I hope you like the story.

It was Thursday after school in windy city Chicago. For the first time I wasn't breaking a sweat walking home. I felt lighter and free in my new clothes, not always fidgeting with my shirt to make sure it didn't make me look bigger than I already was. "What do you wanna do when we get to your house Grace?" says my friend Laurie. "Wanna work out?" I answer. "For the hundredth time this week? No thank you" she says. "I'm sorry" I say "it's just, you know how it was for me before I lost all the weight this summer. I can't go back to feeling the way I did". And I wouldn't. Im determined to stay skinny. I wake up in the morning able to wear whatever I feel like wearing. Don't get me wrong being the size I wasn't all terrible. I mean besides getting teased everyday since forth grade and having your parents who you thought loved you tell you you should be ashamed to look the way you do, I had great friends who told someone off when they made a joke about my size and got really good grades. In fact Laurie was the one who got me to lose weight. And not because she didn't want to hang out with a fat person but because she cares. Laurie was staring at me, she was giving me that what's going on look. "You okay?" She asks. " yea, so, what do you wanna do?". Laurie gives me her 'I got an idea' grin.

We reached my house and started watching 'Pretty Little Liars'. We're both huge fans of the show and while watching we come up theories for why one of the characters might be A. It's actually really fun. After about a half hour Laurie's mom calls her telling her to come home. We say good bye promising to text each other later. Laurie let's herself out and I here the door shut. I continue watching alone until I hear keys jingle, which means moms home. She walks in carrying bags of groceries. I calls me to help carry them in. I do as I'm told and we chat for a few minutes. "How was your day at work?" "Fine" she answers. "What did you eat at school? What did people say when they saw you?" I was annoyed by her first question but tell her anyways. "Chicken and salad with water, and nothing. They all stared and whispered who's that girl? Even though I've been in school with them all for 10 years.". "Oh that's okay I'm sure someone will say something soon" she says with a smile. At that moment I want to ask a question that I've been wanting to ask for a long time, but instead I just smile back and go to my room.
