Later on, I sat down with Jake and Sarah over a cup of coffee to discuss the situation. Sarah's brows furrowed with concern as I recounted my encounter with Hayes.

"So, work's getting worse?" Jake asked, his tone laced with worry.

"Yeah, it's like walking on thin ice," I replied, stirring my coffee absentmindedly.

Jake chuckled nervously. "Maybe you should come back and tame the beast. Another email worked last time, right?"

Sarah shot Jake a disapproving look before turning to me. "Seriously, though, Y/N, are you considering going back?"

I sighed, feeling the weight of the decision pressing down on me. "I don't know. It's tempting, but I know it won't be easy."

"Well, whatever you decide, we've got your back," Sarah reassured me with a warm smile.

With a heavy heart, I made up my mind to accept Hayes's offer, bracing myself for the challenges ahead. As I entered Hayes's office to finalize the deal, his smug demeanor only fueled my determination.

"Ah, my dear lovely Y/N," Hayes greeted me with a smirk.

"I accept," I replied, trying to hide the knot of anxiety in my stomach.

"Excellent," Hayes said, his tone dripping with satisfaction. "Your things will be moved out of your house and into mine by Tuesday."

I recoiled in shock. "What? What are you talking about?"

"You're going to be my personal assistant," Hayes stated matter-of-factly, his eyes gleaming with triumph.

My mind raced with questions and protests, but before I could voice them, Hayes cut me off. "Because I said so. My word is final."

I clenched my fists, struggling to maintain my composure. "I didn't sign up for that, and what does being your assistant have to do with living with you?"

Hayes leaned back in his chair, a smirk playing on his lips. "Because I said so. My word is final."

The audacity of his arrogance infuriated me. "No," I snapped, my voice trembling with defiance.

Hayes raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by my defiance. "No?"

"No. What makes you think you can do anything you want?" I shot back, my frustration boiling over.

There was a tense silence as Hayes regarded me with a calculating gaze. "Or you go back to her," he threatened, his tone cold and menacing.

His words struck me like a physical blow, leaving me reeling with disbelief and anger. Without another word, I stormed out of his office, the echoes of his ultimatum ringing in my ears. As I paced around my apartment, consumed by a mix of emotions, I couldn't shake the feeling of being trapped in Hayes's web of manipulation and control.

Who does he think he is? Frustration and anger boiled over.

"I hate this. I hate him," I muttered to myself as I paced around my apartment, feeling trapped and powerless in the face of Hayes's manipulation.
