2 1 0

The second letter arrived today.

So I was at the beach with Chloe and Annie when Charlie rang me. I missed the first call, because we were swimming, but the second call came just as we were leaving. Chloe and Annie walked ahead while I hung back to talk to Charlie. He told me the postman had just come, and he had gone out to get the mail. It was just one singular letter, again with my name on it.

On the way back home, I was just silent and I was wondering what could possibly be in the letter. What is so important that they need to send two? And how did they know I hadn't read the first letter?

When I got home, I said bye to Annie and Chloe and hurried inside. Charlie gave me the letter and asked what was in it, and I just ignored him and ran back outside to the bin. I chucked the letter out and when Mum and Dad came home, I didn't tell them another letter had come.

Then I sat in my room, in the little couch beside the window, and watched. I was on my phone a little bit, but mostly I just looked out the window. I was watching for any suspicious people. I squinted at the bush across the road, thinking someone could be in there. But I couldn't see anyone. Everything I saw was normal; the neighbours going on walks, cars driving past.

When Mum got home tonight,I abandoned my post and went to have dinner. Then I had a quick shower and I'mback here at the window again. It's pitch-black outside, but I'm still lookinganyway. I think I'm gonna go to bed now, it's getting late. But I'm not sure ifI'll be able to sleep well. I still can't shake the feeling that someone'swatching me.
