Y/N shifted in her armchair, the unease she'd been feeling since this evening's dinner only increasing in intensity. The way Jooyeon's gaze lingered on her, the playful tone in his voice, the easy confidence with which he teased her... it all sent a strange mixture of irritation and something she couldn't quite name swirling in her chest."You seem restless," he observed, his voice breaking through her thoughts. "Can't get comfortable, or are you too distracted by my charming presence?"
Y/N grumbled, her irritation flaring at his cocky tone. "I'm fine," she said, her voice tight. "Just... lost in thought, that's all."
"Lost in thought, hmm?" Jooyeon echoed, his smirk widening. "And what exactly are you thinking about that's got you looking so... flustered?"
Y/N's cheeks flushed at his words. "I'm not flustered," she protested, her voice a bit higher than usual. "I'm just... aggravated. By you and your stupid, flirtatious behavior."
"Oh, my stupid, flirtatious behavior, is it?" Jooyeon chuckled, leaning forward on the couch. "And here I thought you were enjoying my company, considering how often you blush around me."
Y/N scowled, her flush deepening at his words. "I don't blush because I enjoy your company," she retorted. "I blush because you're so aggravatingly annoying and infuriating. It's a physical reaction, not an emotional one."
Jooyeon chuckled again, clearly enjoying the rosy hue of her cheeks. "Hmm, physical reaction or not, I can't help but notice how the color of your cheeks seems to perfectly compliment the shade of your eyes. It's a pretty endearing sight, really."
Y/N grumbled, wishing desperately that she could control her blasted blushing. "Please," she said sarcastically. "You're just enjoying how easy it is to rile me up with your little quips and flirtations."
"Guilty as charged," he admitted, his smirk not faltering. "But can you blame me? Your reactions are like music to my ears. The way your cheeks flush and your eyes sparkle with annoyance... it's quite delightful, really."
As the evening continued, Jooyeon found himself unusually drawn to Y/N. He couldn't quite put his finger on why, but there was something about her independence and unapologetic confidence that intrigued him. In between his usual banter and teasing, he found himself wanting to show her a glimpse of his world, the world he inhabited as a fae.
The fae realm was a place of fantastical beauty, filled with dazzling colors and unusual creatures. He wanted to take her there, to see her eyes light up with wonder and surprise.
He wondered what it was about her that had him so captivated. Was it her sharp tongue and unwavering independence? Perhaps it was the way her cheeks still flushed so vividly when he teased her. Or maybe it was just the challenge of breaking down the walls she had erected around herself, to see the softer, more vulnerable side of her that he sensed was hidden deep within.
He found himself curious about her story, about what had made her so jaded and guarded. There was something in her past, something that had shaped her into the tough woman she was today. He was determined to uncover it, to learn more about this intriguing witch who had somehow managed to captivate him.
But for now, he contented himself with continuing his banter and flirting, all the while planning to find a way to bring her into the fae world. It would be a sight to behold, he thought, to see her eyes widen in disbelief and awe as she stepped into a world filled with magic and wonder.
The image of her reaction filled his mind, his heart quickening at the thought. He wouldn't rest until he saw that look of wonder and surprise on her face, no matter how many more things he had to throw her way to make it happen.
