"Yep!...Uh huh....Yeah, yeah mom I'm about to leave don't worry....Nope I-uh I promise I won't be late for dinner...yup...love you too...okay bye!"
Richie sighed and looked around his dorm, clothes sprawled around the floor, his empty, unpacked duffel in the middle. He figured he should probably start packing since he told his mom he would be on time for dinner. But did he really want to? Honestly the answer was no. He crashed onto his bed and fell asleep without thinking.
*1 hour later*
Richie woke up with a gasp.
"Shit shit shit mom's gonna kill me"
He speedily threw anything he could find into his duffel, sweaters, jeans, pants, underwear, socks. He didn't necessarily know if they were clean but he could just wash them when he got home. He carried the duffel out of the dorm and then out of the building to his car, tossing it in the back seat and then running to hop up in front. He checked the time, 4:45 pm. Dinner was at 6 and it took an hour and a half to get there. If he sped he should make it on time. Richie turned the key into the ignition and began to drive away.
...
Eddie sat there behind the wheel stopped at a red light, in his hometown. He didn't come home for thanksgiving break. Part of him just didn't want to. The other part was afraid.
god please don't run into him. don't let it happen. don't let me see him. He thought.
The last thing he wanted was to run into Richie Tozier. The last time he saw him was 10th grade. And that didn't end well. He was dreading the thought of just being in the same town as him again. It was a small town, Derry. They were bound to see each other sometime in the next two weeks. Well shit.
...
Richie relaxed as he had finally made his way into Derry. He was excited to be home. Especially for Christmas. Christmas had always been such a magical time in Derry. Who knows maybe something magical would happen to him while he was back. He chuckled aloud at the thought. The time was 5:50. He had managed to get into Derry in time for dinner. Yeah so what if he went way over the speed limit. It was an area with no cops, nor other cars, so basically it was legal. He sat there stopped at a red light smiling to himself and looking at the snow. He looked around Derry, remembering all the fun he had here at a kid. While turning his head to see more of Derry he locked eyes with a familiar face in the car next to his. The boys eyes were wide and he still had that stupid baby face. Richie's eyes grew in shock and he quickly turned his head back forward but he could still feel the boy's eyes on him. His eyes. Dammit.
...
Eddie blinked in shock. Did he summon his or something? God I was literally just thinking about him and he pulls up in the car next to me? And we make eye contact for at least 15 seconds. What the fuck. After Richie turned away, he still kept his eyes glued to him. He couldn't help it. He still had those too big glasses on his face and his stupidly messed up dark hair. It was still too long. But goddamn as stupid as he looked Eddie still couldn't help but think he looked adorable.
"Shut up Eddie" he accidentally said aloud. He clasped his hand over his mouth and looked ahead only to realize the light had turned green. Most likely a while ago cause people started beeping at him. He sped away and turned down his street, nervously pulling into his driveway.
