Chapter 1

Lena

Why is everything going wrong lately? Argh. I jumped on one foot while putting my shoe on the other. I'm probably late. Again. I ran to the bathroom to look in the mirror and study my face. I look disgusting. My eyebags are ginormous. I will have to deal with just a bit of concealer and perfume this time. I don't have time to do my usual routine. RIIIIINNGGGG. Jezus, why is our schoolbel so loud? I'm just on time. I lower myself next to becky and jade.

"Why the hell are you so late?" Jade whispers. "I overslept, and i'm just on time" I said while rolling my eyes. "Okay moody Lena" She whispered back. "Did you already hear what happened with Ryan?" She adds. "Who is Ryan?" I ask. I literally have no idea who Ryan is. Or do I? I'm not really good with names you know. Everyone knows me but i definitely not know everyone. "The badboy Ryan? The one everyone is crushing on?" Becky says. I still don't know who they are talking about. "Oooh yeah him" I say . "You still don't know right?" Jade laughs. Jade has been my best friend since i arrived at .... Academy. It was my first time on a private school and i was nervous as fuck. She helped me through the day. The first week I realized a lot more people liked me and not only Jade. I was popular for once. So I started doing my makeup and straightening my hair. I felt really cool. Of course I didn't forget about Jade. We hang out a lot at her house, when i have time. Becky joined our little friendship last year. She was a student from London and moved here in our little town. But it's still Jade and Lena and it will probably always be Jade and Lena. Even though we are complete opposites. I'm a blonde with blue eyes and she is brunette with green eyes. I have a pretty basic style and she is, well, different. She makes me think of my old self. People think its weird that i'm friends with her but I love her and can't think of this school without her. "Hello? Earth to Lena?" Becky nudges me. "Oh yeah sorry, No i don't" I stumble. "Rebel Ryan, THEY principals son" Jade explains. Oh, now i know who Ryan is. I def know him. I despise him. He and his little motorgang. Yeah sure he is handsome, but he is really a rebel and he is gross. One time he threw a stink bomb in our classroom on April 1. It got him expelled for 3 days and when he was back at school he couldn't stop grinning. I'm more of a gentleman girl. Even tho i dont date a lot. At my old school i did date a guy. But he didn't like my new self. He said I changed a lot but I don't feel like I changed. "Oh yeah that Ryan, what did he do this time?" I rolled my eyes again. "Well he didn't do anything but you know they say he slept with moody rachel" Becky says. "Wait omg what?!" I yell. "Lena Brooks, go report yourself to the principal" my teacher yells with an annoyed look on his face. "But sir I-" I stumble. "You yelled through the classroom during my explanation. I know you probably already know all these things but have some respect for your classmates!" he says. I looked to my right where Jade sits. She shrugs her shoulders. I packed my things and started walking to the principal. I knocked three times and heard a voice say: "Come in". I opened the door and stepped in. "Take a seat" principal Wells says while pointing to a chair in front of his desk. I haven't been here a lot, I am a pretty neat student with good grades, I am popular and I'm almost never late. I took a seat and Wells said: "Lena Brooks, I heard that you yelled through the classroom and that you were late". "Sir, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to and I was just on time" I responded. "Well even though you are here with a scholarship that doesn't mean you can just yell through the classroom, there are people that aren't so naturally smart as you are, and just on time is not good enough in this school, I thought you knew that Brooks" he said annoyed. "Sorry sir, i overslept and it will not happen again" I answered guilty. "Well get going please i'm busy" He pointed to the door. I was late because I have been doing double shifts lately, mostly night shifts so I overslept a lot. I have to take care of my family. Yes my dad also works, but it is just not enough. My mom died 7 years ago when I was 10, so now it's just me, my dad and my little sister April. And yeah i'm here with a scholarship, I'm really smart just like my mom was and they have a really good learning program here that could be useful for jobs in the future so my dad doesn't have to work so hard anymore.

At lunch I continued my conversation with Becky and Lena while a few of my other friends were sitting around us talking to each other. "How could he fuck her? She doesn't talk to anyone! Her name is MOODY Rachel for a reason" I said in shock. "Well everyone is talking about it, I don't know either" said Jade "But she is sitting right there". I looked in the direction of Jade's eyes. There she sits, brown long hair falling over her eyes. She never spoke to anyone the two years she's in this school and no one has spoken to her. We nicknamed her moody Rachel. I kinda feel bad for her but I have a status to maintain and being friends with Rachel is not very good for that status. "Should I ask her if it's true?" Jade suddenly asks. That's another thing about Jade she has no shame and does weird things sometimes.
