Part Three: In Which A Baby is Born

The gentle sound of whimpering and soft crying sounds out of the royal burrow. King Ferdinand scampers nervously outside of the room, his tiny nose twitching.

Queen Aurorhilla was having her baby today.

The little citizens of the village of Lushweed wre eagerly bustling and buzzing with excitement over the news of the new kit.

An hour later, a surprisingly unique baby was born. Even the physician, a smart chinchilla named Chubs, had stopped to stare in surprise.

Why, you may ask?

Because something very unusual had happened..

The newborn male baby chinchilla had fur like spun gold, earnest green eyes and twitchy whiskers and nose.

Never had there been a gold chinchilla.

Aurorhilla and Ferdinand named him Aurelius- meaning gold.

Aurelius was a inquisitive and curious little kit; always crawling here and there, experimenting with spiderwebs and earthworms.

Three months later, he learned how to walk-  thus meaning trouble.

Although he was a naughty little kit, he was a firm favourite amongst the kitchen staff, as he always helped out in the kitchen- apart from the time he broke a huge vial of lushweed extract (three days to clean the residue) ... and the time he upturned a pot of spider stew. (Burned a chef and caused an massive upheaval)

By the time he was one year old (six chinchilla years) he was starting to look even more handsome and developed a sixth sense for putting a stop to trouble- always dashing here or there putting out fires, stopping blackberry carts from falling down the hill and such.

He was a beloved little Prince of Lushweed, and all the chinchillas had faith that he would lead the village into success and wealth.

Thus saying, when he was eighteen chinchilla years old (three human years) he was a chinchilla that many young female chinchillas swooned for. His shiny golden coat and perfectly set fur, was totally to die for.

Although, frankly speaking, Aurelius had only set his eyes on one doe (female chinchilla)- Lunaberry.
