Queen Melissa found out, like she usually does. As punishment she had her clean a couple rooms.

Brooklyn wished her mother would give her as much freedom as she does her younger brother. He goes out of the castle all the time despite him being only 10. He gets to "date" a commoner (saying date in quotation because can you really have a romantic relationship at that age?) He gets to do all kinds of things Brooklyn can't.

She kind of gets it, being a girl she had to look out for herself, even the kingdom with the lowest crime rates has criminals. But she was 16, she believed she could defend herself.

Then you have her older brother, in his 20's living in the cactus kingdom with his wife, Queen Savana, who also had more freedom in his time living in the Lotus kingdom then Brooklyn does now.

As she scrubbed the floor she heard her mother call out for her.

"Savana," She yelled exitedly "the winter ball amongst kingdoms is coming up and we're hosting it this year. Get a maid to finish your job, we have some planning to do."

She hated it when her mom called her by her middle name, Savana, it reminded her of her sister in law so it weirded her out hearing people refer to her by that name. (her brother's wife I mentioned earlier) She got up to help her mom.

After a long day of planning for the ball in a few 'weeks', Brooklyn was so ready to go to bed but right as she finished getting ready, she heard a knock on her window. She looked up to see who is was, as you probably already know, it was River.

"What are you doing here?" She asked as she opened the window.

"I wanted to come see you." They replied.

"Does your mom know you're doing this?" She pried.

"Not exactly," They reply again as they step in. "My mom is often really busy so she doesn't always have time to hangout with me, she lets me go to friends houses when she's not around, what she doesn't know is that the 'friend' in question is the princess." They smirked mischievously.

Brooklyn rolled her eyes and chuckled under breath. "Oh yeah. Invite yourself in why don't you?" She said sarcastically.

"Um... sorry about that." River says with somewhat embarrassment.

"Don't worry about it," Brooklyn responds. "I wasn't actually upset." She smiles and steps out of River's way and sitting on her bed.

"So, this ball?" River said looking at her as they, as well, sat on her Brooklyn's bed.

"Oh, yeah." Brooklyn says with slightly exhausted undertones. "My mom's been waiting to host it for years. She's going crazy and deciding to start planning 3 months earl-" She stops herself. "I never told you about the ball, how did you know?"

"I'm a witch, remember?" River responds.

Brooklyn gasp in sock. She starts talking to with offense. "Have you been stalking me?"

"I'm kidding," They laughed a little. "My mom, she was in the castle earlier. Your mom told her and she told me."

"Oh," She stops to think. "Wait, my mom never talks to commoners, who did your mom get a change to speak with her?"

"Commoner?" River question, "Never mind that. What are you wearing to the ball?"

Brooklyn was confused for a moment but then decided not to pry. "I don't know, probably something yellow."

"Do you like the color yellow?"
"Yes, it's my favorite."

"That's cool, I never knew. So Brookly-"

"Brooke"

"Huh?"

"You can call me Brooke."
