Chapter 2 - I Have A Dream

Justin’s P.O.V.

I looked at the clock on my wall. 3 o’clock. Time to grab my guitar and go play for some people.

“Mum” I sad walking into the kitchen.

“Yes honey?” she replied smiling at me.

“I wanna go play outside Avon Theatre again. Can I go?” I asked doing my best baby face. I failed because she started laughing.

“Um, you know you don’t need to anymore” she said looking at me with a dazed look on her face. Weird.

“Yeah, I know. But I just feel like playing, put a smile on someone’s face” I said, a smile arriving on my face.

“Well, okay then. But grandpa’s going to take you okay?”

“Mum, I can go by myself, it’s fine” I said hopefully. No luck this time.

“No, no. I want grandpa to go with you”.

“But I’m not three”.

“Your not eighteen either. You go with your granddad or you don’t go at all”.

“Okay, okay. Can you ring him?”

“Sure”.

“Thanks mum” I said and kissed her on her cheek.

I went upstairs to grab my guitar and pulled red hoodie over my head. Then when my head emerged from my hoodie, a picture on my desk caught my eye. It was one of me at the Stratford Star competition singing Ne-Yo’s So Sick in this white shirt. I smiled at the memory. I didn’t come first in the competition, but I made it to final. But that’s where it all started. My mum put the videos from the competition on Youtube, for our family to see, but soon were stranger’s watching my videos and requesting songs that they wanted me to sing, so I did. Then when I only just started busking in front of the Avon Theatre, my mum put a video up as well. One day a guy named Scooter Braun contacted us and it went from there. He is now woring on getting someone to sign me, so me and mum fly back and forth between Atlanta and here, because there are meeting’s and thing’s that Scooter wants me to attend. So my life’s pretty exciting, as one day I may wake up and find that I am on my way to a singing career, I hope so anyway.

My mum is sacrificing a lot for me to be able to live my dream and for all of this to happen. She divorced my dad when I was only 10 months, so it’s kind of hard for us. But she’s trying her best for me, so I promised myself a few months back, that if I ever get signed and become famous, the first million I earn, I will spend on a big house for my mum. That’s the dream.

“Justin, grandpa’s here” mum called from the living room.

“Coming” I called back. I grabbed my guitar, phone, jacket and left my room.

“Hey grandpa” I said smiling at my granddad and giving him a hug.

My granddad means the world to me as he’s always been here for me, in a way he raised me. If there was anything that troubled me, he was the person I ran to. He’s also the one who convinced my mum to let me play in front of the Avon Theatre for the first time. He knew it meant a lot to me, so he spent many evenings across the road from me in his car, watching out for me.

“Hello son” my granddad replied smiling, “ready?”

“Yup. Bye mum”.

“Bye honey” she said hugging me, “don’t be too long okay”.

“Sure”.

The Avon Theatre is around fifteen minutes from my house. The reason I like playing there is because it makes the acoustics sound good, and a lot of people pass by as it is at the coach stop where loads of tourists arrived. This meant a wider audience, so I was exposed to new people who were always eager to hear me sing. They are also really generous. For my first winnings I am taking my mum to Disney World in Florida. Anytime now.

“I’ll be here watching you” my grandpa said bringing me back to reality. I hadn’t even realised we’d arrived, “go and entertain the crowd” he gave me a big smile.

“Sure, and thanks for everything” I said sincerely.

“It’s nothing son”.

I got out the car, grabbed my guitar, and went for the steps. As I made my way to my ‘stage’, I saw a few familiar faces. They recognised me to and smiled back at me. So I took my guitar out it’s case, got comfortable and started to play.
