Chapter 3 - Fate Brought Us Here

Trisha’s P.O.V.

I turned into the main road where the Avon Theatre was based. I used to perform here when I was younger, along with Jacob, but that was before he started acting in real films. I sometimes wish I could go back to all those times, I really miss them.

As I walked down the road I saw a few changes like shops or simple things like cut down trees or new neighbours. There weren’t too many people around as it was pretty cold. I didn’t mind as this meant there was a smaller chance of anyone recognising me.

I crossed another intersection and I could make out the Avon Theatre. I could also hear the faint sound of a guitar playing and a boy singing. As I got nearer the music started to block out the sound of traffic. There were also more people here so I pulled my hood lower over my head. I could now make out a boy sitting on the steps of the Avon Theatre. He looked around 13, my age. He was wearing a red hoodie with a black jacket over it and a black cap on his head backwards and his guitar case propped up in front of him open for donations. That made me smile for some reason. He finished his song and there was some clapping. I stayed on the other side of the road and positioned myself in front of him. I leaned against a tree so that I looked like I was waiting for someone rather that just standing there in the middle of the pavement staring transfixed at the boy. The he started playing again. I recognised this song; it was Sara Beth by Rascal Flatts. The he started to sing softly and instantly I felt all the hairs on my skin stand up. I shivered. His voice was beautiful.

Sara Beth is scared to death

To hear what the doctor will say

She hasn’t been well

Since the day she fell

And the bruise it just won’t go away

So sits and she waits with her mother and dad

And flips through an old magazine

Till the nurse with a smile stands at the door

And says “will you please come with me?”

Sara Beth is scared to death

Cause the doctor just told her the news

Between the red cells and white

Something’s not right

But we’re gonna take care of you

Six chances in ten it won’t come back again

With the therapy we’re gonna try

It’s just been approved it’s the strongest there is

I think we caught it in time

Sara Beth closes her eyes

And she dreams she’s dancin’ around and around

Without any cares

And her very first love

Is holding her close

And the soft wind is blowing her hair

Sara Beth is scared to death

As she sits holding her mom

Cause it would be a mistake

For someone to take

A girl with no hair to the prom

For just this morning right there on her pillow

Was the cruellest of any surprise

Yet she cried when she gathered it all in her hands

The proof that she couldn’t deny

Sara Beth closes her eyes

And she dreams she’s dancin’ around and around

Without any care

And her very first love

Is holding her close

And the soft wind was blowing her hair

It’s quarter to seven

That boy’s at the door

Her daddy ushers him in

And when he takes of his cap they all start to cry

Cause this morning where his hair had been

Softly she touches just skin

They go dancin’ around and around

Without any cares

And her very first true love

Is holding her close

And for a moment she isn’t scared

Ohhhhhh

He finished playing and the last notes echoed of the wall, whilst everyone who was watching him was standing still, mesmerised. I felt tears on my face. I still had chills all over my body, and I just couldn’t take my eyes of him.

Justin’s P.O.V.

I stopped playing and received the same response that the song always has. Silence as everyone stands still mesmerised. I then looked across the road and saw a girl around my age, 13, standing under a tree looking at me. She had big sunglasses on even though there was no sun. Weird. Then something sparkled on her cheek and I realised that the girl was crying. Did my song make her cry?

So I did the only thing I could think of, I smiled at her. When she saw me smile at her she kind of shook herself awake and smiled back giving me the thumbs up. That bought a massive grin to my face and I decided to play Chris Brown’s With You.

As I played the song, I looked up sometimes to see if the girl was still there, and she was. She had a smile on her face the whole time. Once I finished that song as well I put my guitar to the side, put the tips in my pocket, put my guitar in the case and started making my way to the other side of the road. I wanted to talk to the girl. I don’t know what I’d say, but I just wanted to talk to her. But this time when I looked up she was gone.
