Y/n watched the butterflies flutter around the freshly planted flowers she had just watered. Today was the day Amelie would return home. It had been a month and a half since she had left. Her arm had fully healed and she was allowed to resume her housework. Not that she wanted to. Y/n was supposed to be happy today. But she wasn't. She was worried.
Over the past weeks, her feelings for Julien had grown tremendously and now that Amelie was back, she knew she would be suffering at the sidelines again, forgotten by Julien. Selfishly, she had hoped that Julien would realize that Amelie had no interest for him and move on to y/n herself.
She thought they had been making good progress. She had started calling him by his nickname, Jules, and he had been visiting more frequently. But y/n knew she was being delusional.
She set the metal water can down on the lush grass before flopping down, laying on the soft earth. She stared up at the sunny sky, clouds morphing from one shape to another. She breathed in the scent of the early morning, enjoying the peace and quiet.
"Y/n."
Y/n looked up at Lynette, who stood at the doorstep. The purple-eyed girl lifted a bag of fertilizer up.
"I found it."
Y/n sat up from the grass before fully straightening up, brushing herself off. "Thanks, Lynette."
She walked over to her friend and took the heavy bag from her. "You have training again today?"
Lynette nodded. "Till evening. Later we have to fill out the dorm rooming forms. So meet me outside Father's office after dinner."
"It's already time to sign the papers? Isn't that still months away?"
Lynette shrugged. "I heard it requires more paperwork, since you're moving in earlier than you're supposed to."
"Oh. Alright, thanks. I'll see you then."
Lynette gently brushed a few pieces of grass out of y/n's hair. "Have fun with them," she pointed with her chin. "And stay safe."
Y/n looked behind her, where Fleur, Julien, and Amelie approached. A beam broke out on her face. Lynette waved goodbye and went back into the house as y/n climbed down the steps to meet her friends.
"Y/n!"
Y/n set down the bag of fertilizer before tackling her friend in a bear hug. "I missed you! How was the Akademiya like?"
She pulled away, looking at the girl's sparkling eyes. She wore the biggest smile y/n had ever seen her express.
"It was so amazing. I wish I could've taken you with me. There were so many levels, so many books! All the students had these really refined looking uniforms on. And, they had me take a sort of survey to determine which of the six Darshans I fit into the best. I'm a part of the Spantamad! Can you believe it? Archons, there's so much more, I can't say it all right now!"
Y/n laughed, taking a hold of Amelie's shoulders to calm her down. That had been one of the rare times she had talked that much. "That's great, Ames. Tell me all about it later. I wanna know every single detail. But now, we should probably head out while it's early. So the line doesn't get too long."
"Right," Amelie quieted down, realizing how ecstatic she had been.
Fleur laughed. "Alright. Let's go."
