Sero and Shoto met at the beginning of the year, after they both got into UA. Much to Sero's surprise, he was able to befriend the boy. Shoto Sero were currently walking to the dorms from school before he broke the comfortable silence with his calm, yet slightly nervous sounding voice
"Why do you stick around me..?" Shoto asked in an almost sad tone. Sero was a very energetic person, being the parallel opposite to his friend. Shoto just found it intriguing as to why Sero would ever want to be friends with someone like him.
"I stick around you because I care, and you're a really good guy!" Sero sayed as he grabs Shoto's hands. Shoto's eyes widened at the contact. He blushed a bit, taken aback by Sero's quick and almost energetic response. It seemed he wasn't used to such kindness, especially from someone as lively as Sero. After a few moments he smiled slightly and squeezed Sero's hand gently. "Don't ever think you're not worth being around, okay? I care about you a lot." Sero smiled sincerely. Hearing such heartfelt words, coming from someone so close to him, filled Shoto's chest with a warm feeling. It was a strange yet comforting experience, as he wasn't used to someone caring for him on a personal level.
He looked away slightly, his blush deepening as he mumbled softly ".Thank you.. I don't deserve to have you care for me.."
"Shoto, you do deserve it, you deserve it more than a lot of people." Sero squeezed Shoto's hands and looked at him seriously. Shoto's expression softened, a mixture of awe and disbelief evident in his eyes. He stared down at his hands, held firmly but gently by Sero's.
After a moment, Shoto looked back up at him, a hint of vulnerability in his usually reserved demeanor. He took a deep, shaky breath before speaking, his voice barely above a whisper "You're the only one who thinks that.."
"No, I'm not! The rest of the class cares about you! You're a really good person Shoto!" He was taken aback by Sero's words, clearly not fully processing them. No one had ever been so adamant about his worth before. It was almost overwhelming. He struggled to find a response for a few moments, his heart racing.
"..But.. why..?" he finally managed to stammer out, his hands grasping Sero's just a small bit tighter.
"Your kind, you care so deeply about your friends and the people you care about, you always listen when someone needs somebody to talk to, there's so many reasons, Shoto!" As Sero listed off Shoto's admirable qualities, Shoto's blush deepened. He had never thought of himself in those terms before.
"Y-You really think so.?" he asked, still doubting himself. In his eyes he was just Shoto, the quiet, reserved kid. Hearing that someone saw so much more to him was... confusing, to say the least.
"Yes, you need to stop doubting yourself, Shoto." Shoto took a moment to think over Sero's words, looking away sheepishly. Sero was so adamant about his worth, despite his own low opinion for himself. It was a strange, unfamiliar feeling to have someone care so much.
"'ll try.." he mumbled, squeezing Sero's hand in acknowledgment.
"Good; I'm here if you need to talk, okay?"
Shoto nodded slowly, his eyes meeting Sero's once again, "okay..." he murmured, a small smile crossing his lips. He gently ran his thumb over the back of Sero's hand, savoring the comfort he was bringing him. Shoto's eyes widened slightly in surprise as Sero suddenly hugged him. After a moment, he returned the embrace, wrapping his arms around him. He rested his head against Sero's shoulder, relishing in the comfort and safety of his touch.
"You matter a lot to me, Sho, I hope you know that." Sero's words and the nickname he used sent a warm flutter through Shotos chest. He held Sero a bit tighter, burying his face in his shoulder as he struggled to find his words.
