As people rushed out of the courthouse while police officers including the PG County bomb squad ran in Faith lost sight of her two lawyers Jeremiah and Amanda. She sighed and rubbed her throbbing head as she headed quickly down the street to an alleyway next to a crafts store. Leaning against the bricked wall she breathed hard and reached into her beige blazer pocket for the one thing she had found that morning in her bedroom while she had been trying to figure out what to wear that was appropriate enough.

Her old trusty old friend.

Her silver flask which was half filled with gin.

She didn't just want this. She needed it. God. Help her. She should call Andrew. No. She couldn't. He had enough on his plate now with Glory and Richard. She should call Joy. No. No. Their relationship was too early, too new for putting something like this on her. She couldn't.

But she couldn't deal with all this. The newspaper articles. Even with the Reign publishing an article with her side of the story most still thought she was responsible for what went down with Ted Young , that asshole rookie. The news media. The rallies of Lazarus. Those racists in the courtroom. Her lieutenant and her partner had her back but some of the others in her unit still saw her as somehow dirty, flawed , wrong. So much for the thin blue line, right?

She just needed a little bit. Just enough to calm her nerves. Just a little.

Her hands shook visibly as she unscrewed the top off the flask and lifted it up to her lips.

Then her phone rang with the theme song " Ease On Down The Road". Joy.

She slowly put down her hand with the flask and stuck it in her pocket again

She answered the phone. " Hey , Joyful. "

Joy sounded alarmed and scared as she said," The news said there was a bomb threat at the courthouse. Are you ok , darling? "

Faith thought about what was in her pocket just now. She sighed as she tried to fight back the wanting. The need. " Yeah. I'm fine, babe."
