"What's everyone looking at?" Julie asked asked one afternoon when all the Gryffindor First Years were looking at something on the notice board in their commom room."We've got our first flying lesson on thursday" Seamus groaned. Julie looked around and nobody seemed excited, even Ron who constantly talked about Quidditch and flying.
"But that's a good thing, isn't it?" she asked, looking confused. Flying always sounded very exciting to her.
"Yes, but we've got the lesson with the slytherins" Parvati said. Everyone was very dissatisfied about learning how to fly with the Slytherins, but Julie was still mostly excited.
Harry on the other hand was worried about making a fool of himself as he told Ron and her when they were sitting in their usual spot in the common room after Hermione had gone to the library.
"Typical" he said "Just what I always wanted. To make a fool of myself on a broomstick in front of Malfoy."
"You don't know you'll gonna make a fool of yourself" answered Ron. "Anyway, I know Malfoy's always going on about how good he is at Quidditch, but i bet that's all talk."
"Yes and if you make a fool of yourself, I will catch you before you even hit the ground" Julie said grinning and giving him a teasing nudge.
Harry shot her a mock glare, clearly not amused by her sarcasm.
"Thanks for the support." he replied, though Julie could see the little grin at the corner of his mouth.
Harry and Ron decided to go for a walk after talking for ages, but Julie stayed behind, because she wanted to wait for Hermione.
Julie was still sitting on the sofa when she suddenly remembered that her mom gave her a new diary before she came to Hogwarts and she decided to get it from her dormitory. It was still in her suitcase and she decided that it would be a good time to start writing in it.
Dear Diary,
First I want to apologise for not writing to you in a very long time. But I've got big news. I'm finally at Hogwarts!! I've already been here a couple of weeks and it's been amazing. I'm a Gryffindor which means I'm in the same house as Mason and the Weasley's. I've also found a best friend, Mione, but I get along with everyone, except for Potter. Yes, the Harry Potter. He's soo annoying. The first time we argued was on the Hogwarts Express, then after the Sorting Ceremony and basically every day! He's always teasing me. I just wish he would back off. I don't know what the fuss about him is and why mom and dad said that he's kind. Like, no he is not. Anyway enough of Potter. My dormitory is really cute, Mione, Lavender, Parvati and I have got fairy lights and pictures everywehre. Also Juniper, my baby cat, loves being here and exploring the castle. I'm super excited for our first flying lesson on Thursday. I can't wait!!! Well I think I've told you everything that has happened and I will update you soon!
Love, JulieShe read trough the diary entry again and then decided to go back to the common room, to see if her friends and Potter have shown up again and sure enough just when she arrived Hermione walked through the potrait with a big stack of books in her hand.
"What are you doing?" Julie asked her as she put down all the books on a table.
"I got some books from the library to see if I can find anything about flying tips. I'm gonna read them now" she answered as she sat down and took her first book out of at least seven. Julie sat down next to her and just watched her read silently.
What a best friend she had.

On Thursday, when they had breakfast Hermione was telling everyone all the flying tips she had found in the books. Julie privately thought they were very boring and also useless. She tried not to listen to them so she wouldn't be influenced. Neville, who was very nervous about flying, on the other hand hung up on every word she said and listened very carefully.
Julie (and probably everyone else except Neville) was very pleased when the post arrived and Hermione had to stop talking about the flying tips. Julie was very thankful for yet receiving another letter from my parents, but decided to open it later when she was alone.
Neville also had gotten post. "A rememberball" he explained "Gran knows I forget things - this tells you if there's something you've forgotten to do. Look you hold it tight like this and if it turns red - oh..." Julie listened to him and was very surprised to see that the ball has turned red. "..you've forgotten something."
Julie was helping Neville trying to remember what he had forgotten, when she saw three people who she really disliked marching to their table. Suddenly Malfoy snatched the Rememberball out of Nevilles hands. Julie immediately jumped up along with Ron and Harry.
"Give it back to him, Malfoy, you stu-" she started but was cut of by Professor McGonnagall. "What's going on?"
"Malfoy's got my rememberball, Professor" Neville said. Malfoy immediately gave him the ball back with an bad excuse and strutted off.
Typical Malfoy," Harry said, shaking his head. "Thinks he's above everyone else."
"Yeah, but at least he gave it back," Julie muttered, sitting back down. "Not like he had a choice, though. I think McGonagall scared him."
Harry smirked. "Yeah, I bet he's probably still shaking in his boots."
Julie glanced over at him. "You think Malfoy's scared of McGonagall?"
"Wouldn't be the first time," Harry replied, shrugging. "I'd be terrified if she was after me."
She snorted. "You? Terrified of McGonagall? You're full of it."
Harry shot her a side-eye. "I'm serious. You'd be terrified too if she gave you that look of hers."
Julie smirked back at him. "Oh, I'm sure I would. Terrified. Right."
