"Hi, my name's Xiao Zhan, a high school student that turns out to like men.

I started to realize that I was into men when I saw Wang Yibo one day.

At first, I didn't know his name as he was a transfer student. I got to know his name through my friend Meng Ziyi, who of course supports me in any way, she also encourages me to confess how I truly feel about Yibo.

Today is the day of our entrance ceremony. I came with Ziyi to participate in the ceremony.

Halfway through the ceremony, I felt bored, so I asked Ziyi if she could go outside with me to get some fresh air and to escape from that boring speech.

"Ziyi, wanna go outside with me to get some fresh air and to... you know, escape this professor's boring speech?" I asked in a joking tone.

"Sure, I'm also thirsty anyway. Let's buy something to drink."

Ziyi and I bought Coca-Cola and were about to go to the spot we always go to when I saw a majestic, beautiful person sitting there. I was instantly attracted to his beauty that I felt like my heart skipped a beat. I wanted to know his name, but I was too shy to ask. I couldn't do anything but stare at him instead.

On the other hand, Ziyi looked at me, confused. "What are you looking at?" she asks, looking in the direction where I'm looking, where she sees a handsome man. Ziyi elbowed me and whispered to me, "That's Wang Yibo, a transfer student. I heard he's in the same class as us."

"I was actually just about to ask that, Ziyi," I laughed after I said that and continued looking at the man who sat in our usual spot. Upon closer inspection, he seemed to be talking with someone on the phone.

After 3 minutes of staring at him, he put his phone down. He's probably done talking to the person on the other side. He caught me looking at him, which made me really embarrassed and made my face red as a tomato.

So that was what happened one year ago. Let's go back to the present now.

Today is the day I plan to confess my feelings to Yibo. I want to meet him after class ends.

-At the gate-

"So? What is it you want to tell me?" Yibo asked.

I felt my heartbeat going crazy. I decided to close my eyes and bravely confess to this handsome man in front of me.

"Yibo, actually I like you! I've liked you since the first time our gazes met at the entrance ceremony! I always wanted to tell you how I truly felt, but I couldn't bring myself to confess as I was afraid you'd reject me. But now, I've built up the courage to confess to you! I'm not going to force you to like me back, but I hope we can at least be friends!"

Finally, I said it! I thought.

Yibo didn't answer for a moment, but he finally answered now.

"Zhan, I appreciate your courage to confess your feelings to me, but I can't reciprocate your feelings for me. I'm also not into men. I'm sorry, Zhan. I can only try to be your friend at the least."

To be honest, I'm really disappointed that he didn't like me back. I tried to cheer myself up by the "I can try to be your friend at the least." At least he's willing to try to be my friend, right?

After that, he left and went home.

I went back to my classroom where I saw Ziyi waiting for me there.

"What are you doing here, Ziyi?" I asked as I took my things from my table.

"Waiting for you, of course. So? How did it go? What did he say?" She asked as she elbowed me.

"He said he's not into men and he doesn't like me. He also said he will try to at least be friends with me."

"Oh, don't be upset, Zhan. How about we go buy your favorite cake from your favorite shop to cheer you up? What do you think?"

"Your treat, right?" I asked in a jokingly manner that made Ziyi laugh.

"Yes, yes, my treat, but just this once."
