Chapter 4 - Family

Trisha’s P.O.V.

The boy stopped playing and gave me another smile. He had been watching me watch him through the whole song. Then he started to pack up so I decided to leave as well as it was getting dark and very cold. I regretted not taking a coat with me. As I left I promised myself that I’d come back tomorrow and see if he’s here again.

I got home shivering like mad as it had started to snow. I really need to get used to this weather again. It’s absolutely freezing. I took my hoodie and sneakers of and decided to get something to eat. I went into the kitchen but there was nothing. Damn. So I did the only think I could think of; I called my nan.

“Hello” she said down the line.

“Hi nan. It’s me, Trisha” I replied.

“Oh how are you sweety?”

“I’m good”

“Did you arrive okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, just a lot of paparazzi”.

“As always. I’m guessing it’ll be on the news”.

“Yeah, probably”.

I could see the headlines already: ‘The Hudson family return to their how town for a break’. Pathetic.

“Um, nan?” I said.

“Yes?” she replied.

“This is gonna sound really stupid but there is nothing to eat in our house so I was wondering if I could pop in to yo-“

“Oh my goodness, I should have known!” she cut me off, “Jody never thinks about these things in advance. I’m guessing the others are out somewhere aren’t they?”

“Yeah, Jacob has an interview”.

“Oh” was her only reply, “I’ll have granddad drop you of some of my chicken stew”.

“That would be great, thank you so much” I said gratefully.

“No problem sweety. When your mother gets back tell her to call me okay? I need to talk to her about all this”.

“Okay sure”.

“I’m going to get the stew ready for you so expect your granddad in twenty minutes or so”.

“Okay, and thanks again”.

“Not at all. Bye sweety”.

“Bye nan”.

I hang up. If not for the fact that my grandparents live in this town, I would be totally alone in these situations. When I was younger I used to spend most of my time at their house along with Jacob, whilst our parents focused on their careers. So my grandparents mean the world to me, and I owe a lot to them.

Once my granddad had come and gone I ate, then went to take a shower. It had been a very long day so sleep was at the very top of my ‘things to do next’ list.  When I was about to turn my lights off, I heard the front door open. So I put my purple pumps on and went downstairs to say night.

“Hey” I said arriving in the hallway where the other were taking their coats of.

“Hi” the other replied in unison.

“Oh shoot, did you get anything to eat” my mother adds looking guilty.

“Yeah, I called nan up” I answered.
