"SQUAD ONE, MARKSMAN IM DABIN." lieutenant lee stated, as the reservists of class 3-2 were standing in formation with their designated groups. it was the day of the operation and chunho was assigning their roles. "assistant marksman kang jina."
upon hearing her name and who she was paired up with, jina felt a sense of relief washing over her. although her skills with the riffle improved considerably, she still had her struggles with it. so being with dabin, who probably was the best shooter of them all, made her feel better.(that wasn't the only reason, but jina wasn't ready to face it yet. )
dabin felt his clenched jaw relax the moment he was partnered with jina and asked himself if their lieutenant was able to read minds. his eyes landed on jina, who stood further ahead of him, and a slight smile spread on his face. the thought of her alone could lift up his mood in a matter of seconds. and it did even more so, when she turned around and faced him with her lips upturned.
the boy's heart melted, sending her a reassuring expression. one that told her she didn't have to worry about what was awaiting them.
"when we arrive at our destination, the raiding party will put the guard up." platoon leader lee continued to explain. "the two people in the search party will take the lead and request troops."
"yes, sir!"
"this is a sphere detector." jina curiously watched the device lee chunho was holding out. it apparently was still a prototype, so they were told not to rely on it too much and a little more details about how it worked and what its radius was.
once they were dismissed, the two groups quickly gathered together in a circle and eyed the two detectors. "the people high up aren't just sitting back and watching." bora stated, as she was surprisingly impressed.
"you're right. why didn't they give us this earlier?" hana replied, trying to catch a better glimpse of it.
"what's this?" taeman voiced out, as he took the device out of dabin's hand. the boy looked around the group in shock. "why isn't it detecing anything?" he asked, but was met with annoyed sighs and words.
"because there are no spheres here!"
from beside him, ilha and dabin glanced at one another, before they both slapped the former's helmet. dabin then took the detector back and walked towards jina once they were ordered to divide into their squads.
