She was in her room, breathless, like she just came from a marathon as she sits on her bed. Her newly fix luggage standing near the door of the room that was waiting for her. She had the plane ticket on her fingers, she toys with it gently. "Finally, Ciize." She whispers to herself as a soft smile appears on her lips, stopping her eyes from welling up in tears once again.
She was already on her white shirt, black pants in her white converse as a jacket hangs on her waist. She quickly change her clothes after the wedding, she is still had to fix her luggage before driving to the airport. She had a plane to catch and she promise herself to not miss it this time.
She takes a deep breath as she holds on to her backpack and leave but as she is stand up, a small thud like something fell into the floor made her look down just to make sure she didn't miss anything before leaving.
But the moment she saw what it was, she sort of wish she didn't. It was her notebook, it was probably covered by the sheets on her messy bed that's why it slip of her mind until now. She picked it up and stared at it, regardless of how painful it was to have something that reminds her tragic story with Milk, she knows how valuable it was for her and she doesn't really want to disregard it by leaving it here.
She looks at her watch to check the time , it was still five hours away from her flight but the drive to the airport may took too long. She sighs as she contemplates if she's about to do something stupid again, but she brushes off all her worries as she calls her mom.
"Ciize? Where are you? Are you not going to attend the party?"
She was bombarded with questions the second the call was answered.
"I'm leaving, remember?" She explains.
"That was today? But Ciize, you're her maid of honor. Are you not supposed to do a toast for the newly wed couple?"
"Yeah. About that, I need your help with my luggage, and can you ready the car for me?"
The silence on the other line allowed her to explain further.
"I just decide to give a speech for the two, I won't take long. I just don't want to waste my minutes and miss the flight."
"Okay, leave your keys to the lobby. I'll tell our driver but hurry okay? Your name is about to be called."
"Yeah. I'll be there."
She ends the call and gently hits her head with it. "You deserve this, Ciize." She says as she leaves her things behind except the plane ticket on her back pocket and the notebook on her hand.
.....
She hears her name multiple times as she head towards the door. She can see through the glass windows the multiple heads that were turning left and right looking for her. She sprints and pushes the door open, raising her hand and declaring her presence.
"I'm here."
"Oh, the maid of honor is here. In her.. jeans?"
June, the emcee for the program has her eyebrow raised upon seeing Ciize. She ignored her friend and takes the microphone off her hand and the glass of champagne that was offered to her.
"Hi. Yes, I know. I'm no longer dressed for the occasion and I swear I'm not trying to ruin the wedding reception. That's the least that I wanted to do to my two best friends. I won't take long anyway so I'll keep this as short as I can."
