Kimberly stepped out of the Ravenclaw common room, adjusting the strap of her book bag as she prepared to head to her first class of the morning. The early morning light filtered through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the corridor. She was still shaking off the last remnants of sleep, her mind preoccupied with the day's schedule—D.A.D.A first, then Potions, a class she wasn't exactly looking forward to.

As she rounded the corner, lost in thought, she nearly collided with someone standing right in front of her. Kimberly's eyes widened in surprise as she took a step back, her heart skipping a beat.

"Dad?" she blurted out, startled to see Professor Snape standing there, his imposing figure cloaked in black as usual. But what caught her attention even more was the small box he was holding, carefully balanced in one hand.

"Good morning, Kimberly," Snape said in his usual calm, measured tone, though there was a flicker of something softer in his eyes—something that only she would notice. He held out the box toward her.

She blinked, momentarily speechless. "What... what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice a mix of confusion and curiosity.

"I thought you might need this," he replied, ignoring her question as he handed her the box. Kimberly hesitated, then took it, glancing down to see it was a breakfast box, neatly packed.

"I didn't see you having your dinner last night," Snape said, his tone as unreadable as ever, though there was a hint of something softer beneath it.

Kimberly glanced down at the small box in his hand, then back up at him, her surprise slowly melting into a warmth that spread through her chest. It wasn't like him to show concern so openly, especially since she'd moved into the Ravenclaw common room. The distance between them had grown wider, their conversations fewer and far more guarded.

"Well, I had my lunch yesterday," she replied, her voice quiet, almost hesitant. "But... thanks, Dad."

Snape's expression didn't change much, but there was a flicker in his eyes—something that told Kimberly he'd noticed the small gesture of gratitude. He handed her the box, not saying anything more, but the silence that hung between them wasn't as cold as it usually was.

Kimberly took the box and opened it slowly, revealing a simple sandwich wrapped neatly inside. It wasn't much, but the thought behind it made her heart ache in a way she wasn't prepared for. It was a small olive branch, a sign that, despite everything, he still cared.

She took a breath and looked up at him, wondering if she should say something more, but the words stuck in her throat. Instead, she nodded, a silent acknowledgment that she understood what this meant.
