Chapter 12

BORUTO'S POV

I reach home as I shout, "I am home!" To my surprise I found Kawaki, the boy we saved in my house.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, as Kawaki scowls.

"He is supposed to be under supervision, Boruto." Mom answers as she puts food on the table.

"I'm not hungry.." I answer as I walk in my room. I lock it and check it once more before I open my drawer. I take out the sleeping pills as I take one of them. My hands shake as I swallow it.

I walk to my bed getting under the sheets as I lay looking at the ceiling. It was afternoon yet I was impatient to see what was going to happen. This time... I was prepared. I would do anything to save Sarada... even if it costs me my life.

I clutch my blanket tightly, slowly falling asleep. My eyes open to find myself in a completely different place. I was on the dead end of a street laying in the position I was asleep.

I get up walking around to see the place. I came to the conclusion of it not being my village. I walk around to see a festival. I was scared of being noticed.. But I wasn't noticed.... It was like.. They couldn't see me.

I continue walking, taking in every piece of information as I finally reach the starting point of the festival. I see two people playing a game. I walked closer to them only to realise it was me and Sarada.

"AHHHHHH! I lost once again.!" Sarada groans in frustration as I see myself rub her forehead to soothe the pain.

"Sorry... didn't mean to hit that hard..." He (Boruto) laughs a little, hugging her (Sarada). She hugs him back, still upset. I saw my future self gaze towards me as I felt a shiver run through my spine.

"I'll be back." He says tapping her back as she breaks the hug nodding. He walks towards me, walking past me. I look back to see him walk towards the place I woke up in. I walk behind him reaching the dead end of the street as I look at him. He leans on the nearby wall as I fidget my fingers scared to say anything.

"You will be coming here for a mission in a few days... you know what to do." He says in a monotone as I look at him.

"How did I injure my right eye?" I ask as he looks at me coldly.

"Protecting someone I love." He says as I nod, knowing he won't answer. Before I could ask anything else, I heard a knock on my door making me realise I have to go back.

I wake up as I look around to see myself in my room. I get up and open my door only for my mother to rush in hugging me. I look at her confused but reciprocate the hug.

"What happened?" I ask patting her back.

"I should be asking you this question." She replies looking at me. I look at her confused as she sighs.

"You.. have again started to behave like this... Boruto. I am too worried..." She says as I realise it was night by now.

"I'll tell you when I confirm some things, mom." I say determined to know what mission we will be receiving tomorrow... or will it be the same as what my future self said.

She sighs as she nods. She pats my head before speaking, "I hope you are not going in the wrong direction, Boruto."

"I'm not, mom..." I say. 'Not till now.' I think.

I walk downstairs with mom as I see Kawaki sitting on the table angrily.

"Looks like someone made you go against your thoughts?" I say as I sit on my chair waiting for mom to serve. Kawaki curses under his breath as I hear him. But I was so immersed in my thoughts that I paid no heed to it.

Mom serves us the food as I start eating. Hima finishes her food fast as she continues to sit on her chair and watch the two of us (Me and Kawaki). I raise an eyebrow looking at Hima as she shakes her head.

She jumps down from her chair as she gives her plate to mom. I too finished my food and gave my plate to her.

"Good night mom." I say walking to my room. I was so tired, I felt like I haven't slept in years... well... that was definitely the case... but I haven't felt so restless even with no sleep.

"Good night." She replies as I close my bedroom door as I sleep.

I was worried if I would be receiving the mission to go to Iwagakure or not... as I continued to think about it, I fell asleep. And for the first time in so many years... I had a good sleep.

I wake up as I brush my teeth before taking a shower. I feel Sarada's chakra at my house as I wear my mission clothes before walking down.

"Hokage-sama had called us for a mission." She says as I nod. It was going exactly as he told me. I noted it as I took the bread piece before walking to her.

"Let's go?" I say as she nods. She bowed to mom before walking out.

"Bye mom!" I say as she says, "Bye... take care."

We reach the Hokage office as Sarada knocks on the door. "COME IN!" A loud noise comes from inside as we both walk inside. We see our Sensei and Mitsuki inside waiting for us.

Mitsuki smiles at the two of us as Sarada positions herself beside me.

"I have a mission for you all." He says as I take a deep breath. The moment of truth...

"You have to give these samples to the village." He continues as he gives the scroll and the samples to Sensei.

"Where do we have to go?" I ask as everyone nods. "Iwagakure." He says as I feel a shiver run through my spine. 'He... he was right.' I think.
