Junhan is an 18-year-old young man that was ready for whatever came to him, he was at a point of age that he just wanted to get things over with. Plus, that state of mind that he was in somehow helped him go through high school, middle school and so on. However, unfortunately things come to an end once you enter the real adult world.
As always, Junhan takes the first day of school like any normal day, waking up at 6:00 AM on point. He gets up from the bet as he jawns and smiles as he looks at the window, which was raining. He loved the rain more than any season. He walks to the window and opens it so he could have fresh air. He loved the smell of wet grass and the cool bris that came with it. Ah ...if only it could be like this every day all year. He lets out a sight as he walks to his closet and picks out an outfit. He goes to the bathroom and places his clothes on the sink. He takes a shower and gets himself ready. He puts on a white shirt with a black sweater and a pair of gray sweatpants, as he finishes changing, he looks into the mirror and sees that his hair doesn't look right, so he tries to style it a bit but gives up on it in just a single second. Gosh, what am I doing...what has gotten into me all of the sudden. He sights as he walks out of the bathroom and goes to his desk to get his things ready. He places his utilities for the school on the desk, neatly organized. He takes his paper of the list of things he is supposed to bring and scans the desk as he checks in every single thing, so he doesn't miss anything. He smiles to himself as he places the things in his bag.
At 6:30 AM, Junhan comes running down the stairs, all ready to go. He goes towards the kitchen where the mother was to greet her.
"Good morning mom!", he said as he kissed her on the cheek
"Oh my! How strange, why the sudden affection so early in the morning?", the mother said as she stroked his hair, fixing some of the hair standing up.
"Oh, it's nothing, it's just simply because it's a very nice day today", he said as he looked towards the window with a smile.
"What? What do you mean? It's gloomy today. It's raining pretty hard right now", she said with a frown.
"What? You don't like rainy days? The smell it gives when it rains?", he asked as he gave her a shocking face.
"Yeah...no. I prefer sunny days.", she said as she turned around and continued making the egg salad.
"Well...like I said, it's simply because of the weather, so that's why I'm in a way better mood," he said as he took a seat on the table and leaned on his hand while staring out into the window, looking at the rain pouring its heart out.
"Are you sure? It's not because you're finally going away to a farther location and basically starting a new life since the previous one you basically went with the same people since you were little until this year that you finish high school," she said as she turned around and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah...I'm sure. Plus, why would I be excited if I'm not going to know anyone and I might not even make friends like every past year'," he said as started to get angry and started to frown without noticing it.
"What?! You did have friends!" she exclaimed with a confused expression.
"...Not really," he said as turned away and placed his head down on top of his hands, causing him to make a double chin.
"What do you mean?!" she said in rage.
"The three guys that I presented to you that one time...they...they were just classmates for a group project. We kind of clicked but not really since they just continued with their life as the group project ended. They never contacted me when we even exchanged phone numbers..." he said as he closed his eyes and let out a sigh.
"Oh my...Well did you at least try to contact them...?" she said with a hopeful expression as she stopped what she was doing and went to comfort him as she started to caress his head.
"Oh...no...," he said as he came into realization.
"See! You could have initiated it! But it's okay my son, this year you will get lots of friends. I'm sure of that," she said as she clapped her hands together and closed her eyes as she then intertwined her hands as if to pray.
"Wait, no, please don't come to school and try to make people try to be friends with me," he said as he sensed that she was planning something that in the end will make him embarrassed.
"What?! I would never do that! You offend me!" she said as she felt really offended with the statement, which was partly true, but was in the thought of good intentions.
"If you say so...but if you are, please don't do anything without telling me, please," he said, begging her.
"Fine, but I was just going to pray to God to help you get friends...Well, never mind that, let's just start eating, breakfast is ready. Go wash your hands," she said as she smiled and turned around to get the salad.
"...Okay," he said as he got off the chair and went to the bathroom.
As Junhan washed his hands, he looked up into the mirror and just stared at himself for a couple of seconds until he broke down into a silent laughter.
"Honey! What's taking you so long! You're going to be late for school at this rate! Remember, it's going to take like an hour for you to get to school since you're taking the bike!" she screamed as she only placed one leg on top of a stair step.
"I'm coming! I'm almost finished!" he shouted as he rinsed his hands and shake them as he composed himself and opened the door to go downstairs.
