Casey

I couldn't stop my hands from shaking.

The growing anxiety regarding my current situation grew with each passing second. I felt the pressure inside my chest, wounding tighter and tighter. There was no escaping as the looming mansion spanned above us, as creepy as I remember, housing the one man I now knew had a hold on me. I wanted to run, to hide, but where was no turning back.

If he was the client, and he was here tonight, I would see him. And I couldn’t forget that my father had mentioned a family too.

My cheeks burned fiery hot and my brother had to tap me, reminding me that everybody had already left the car and were waiting for me.

My mother's curious gaze did nothing for my anxiety.

I was making it too obvious. I had to get it under control before my parents started asking questions. My father's instructions had been clear.

Do not eff around tonight. Especially not tonight.

Inhaling and exhaling with rhythmic breaths, I calmed my nerves as discretely as possible after my mother turned to back to meet my father halfway in front of the car.

Those familiar double doors opened and Sarah, the maid that had prepared my and Mr Black’s lunch the last time I was here stepped out to greet us with that gentle smile plastered on her face. If she knew who I was, she sure didn't show it.

She ushered us through the foyer, taking our jackets and pointing us in the direction of the dining room. The beautiful living room captured my attention for all but a second as we passed it. Same way it did the last time. We entered a spacious room a door down.

As we walked into the space, and down the steps that led to a beautiful open-spaced dining room, not living it seemed, I felt self-conscious.

There was a large and long dark wood table in the middle of the room, decorated beautifully with fancy looking plates and glasses There were eight seats arranged around the table. The chandelier above glittered lightly and it cast an important and ominous glow around the room. I felt trapped as my eyes scanned the four guards standing around the room.

I was very sure they were armed. I got the same feeling the last time I was here.

Why would they have guards? It was a thought that had occurred to me over the last few months. Mr Black had radiated the energy of a man in charge, and I wondered if he had to be protected because of all the businesses he owned.

Though I had somehow managed to calm my racing heart, I halfway fainted as the sight of familiar broad suit-covered shoulders turning at the sound of our entry.

Mr Black.

My breath caught for a moment as the Fox stepped in right beside him. I watched her dark red nails first, creeping over his shoulder slowly, her eyes as cold and as calculating as I remembered.

She looked breathtakingly beautiful, as she always did. Tonight, her slim curvy body was poured into a tight and seductive burgundy dress. And without having to look down, I knew that she had on red bottoms despite the black shiny glint of the top of the heel. Her hair was down and straight and it totally made her look every bit like the siren I knew she was. Those red and pouty lips were the final tip over. I finally understood her appeal.

I could see why Leeh crushed on the stunning woman.

She looked dressed to kill.

The man beside her looked every bit the part of my teacher, but something was different about him tonight. There was something different about his hair, longer. I had seen him not too long ago and he still had his short hair. Eyes darker, if possible. More deadly. It sent an uncomfortable feeling tumbling around inside of me.
