Chapter 17
"I'm sorry..." I didn't know how those words came out of my mouth. Those were like foreign words to me but I easily muttered it in front of Rohen.
I felt like it was the best answer.
His narrowed eyes left mine and went down to my body. He looked away and I could see how displeased he was. I bit my lower lip. Do I look that bad? That he had to react like that?
Did I really pissed him off?
But for what? I came here alone without any drama.
I just want some peace!
The water was just below my chest, and his waist for him. The flowing streams of water silently calmed him down.
"Let's go." now his tone was a bit distant. He pulled me gently to follow him.
Tumakbo? Sobrang layo ha!
He didn't let go of my arm until he reached for my bag. He opened it and looked at something inside like it was his bag. He took out my towel and without ado he wrapped it around my body, it was aggressive it made our gap closer.
My eyes widened at him, but he didn't look bothered by it at all. He was more focused on other things.
"Cover your body. Your brasserie was showing." he announced so casually.
"Obviously, I need thin clothes to bath here. Alangan mag sweater ako?" I tilted my head to the side to see his face, because he took the bag placed on the rock. "Buti nga I considered to wear a shirt pa. I know naman hindi bagay na mag one-piece dito." habol ko kahit wala naman talaga akong dalang kahit anong ganoon.
I came here for work so formal attire and dresses filled my luggage.
His lips turned into thin line. "That's not what I meant." I arched my brow at him. "Hindi ba binalaan kita na maraming dumaan dito? Kahit hindi mga taga hacienda. That's why it's very dangerous to bathe here alone, especially in the middle of the dark!" he stated like a father.
My lips agape. "What? Even the outsiders? Why?" buti na lang wala akong natyambahan!
He faced me again now with a heavier expression. "Maraming tao na gumagamit ng shortcut sa gubat. May ibang napapadaan dito dahil mas malapit, pagbawalan man namin, meron pa rin ang hindi sumusunod." he stepped closer, I hugged myself with the towel. "Now tell me what will happen if someone spot you here and think of unpleasant things? You're alone in the middle of the night." he was calm but his tone was more nerve wracking.
I swallowed hard. "I-I can protect myself."
He raised his brow like it was not the answer he was waiting to hear. "Really? You think that's enough? You should be more careful and should've brought someone with you if you want to be here."
I sighed. "I just want to be alone in peace. Be with my own thoughts. Kailangan kong mag isip-isip. Kaya iisa ko lang dito."
We were inches apart from each other. He bent down. "At anong mga naisipan mo habang nandito ka? Is it even that worth it you went here and risk your safety?"
Ikaw. At oo.
I pushed the tip of my tongue at the back of my teeth and looked away. Why is my heart beating at such a fast pace again?!
