WEEKENDS arrived in a blink and no one could be happier than Ningyi because she could finally breathe and rot in bed the whole day with some take out foods and watch her comfort shows. No matter how many times she has re-watched the show, if it's her favourite ─── she'd watch it for million times. No one can stop her.
Ningyi squinted her eyes and stretched out herself lazily while trying to send herself back to sleep but her body couldn't sleep anymore because she slept the whole afternoon yesterday and then the whole night she was dead asleep rather than watching any dramas or engaging in any activities.
She forced herself out of the bed and took a shower with cold water that instantly refreshed her body. Ningyi decided to cook food for herself and prepared a simple home-cooked meal that consists of white rice, tofu stew and the marinated raw-crab that she brought yesterday.
She clicked a picture of her meal and sent to her bestie randomly before digging in. Ningyi was so satisfied with the food and almost finished all the crabs but she kept it for tomorrow morning or for evening and cleaned up the utensils when she was done eating.
As soon as she finished drying the utensils, her phone rang and showed her bestie's ID, LIN XIAOYAN
"Hello Yanyan?"
"Do you have any plans today other than rotting in bed?"
Ningyi raised her brows "No, I don't ──── are you trying to set me up on a blind date with your seniors?"
"You'll never show up even if I arrange. Shall we go and visit our old college?"
The four corners of the university were always in chaos. Some students were in the hallway while some at the canteen and some at the garden taking their small time, enjoying the sun happily without any care in the world despite being weekend, the college was liveky. But Ningyi, she was inside the auditorium hall with many other students of different departments as she patiently waited for the seminar to end though it started 30 minutes ago, she clearly regretted coming out.
Her best-friend , Lin Xiaoyan asked her to join a seminar with her regarding a game developing program where she was invited by her old college professor. She claimed that her "favourite role model" would be leading the seminar today. But, she couldn't understand who the favourite person was because for the past 30 minutes, it was the neighbouring college professor talking about their life experience and his side job as an editor.
Ningyi tried her best to keep her eye open and not sleep off while Lin Xiaoyan was so into it and could barely notice her friend's bored condition. She was a person interested in listening to people's life experiences, be it a famous person or a normal person so her ears were all open to the Professor's words. She was in a cute dress and forgot to bring a scarf so, she could only use a notebook to cover her face and drift to her small dreamland.
"Thank you for your word of advice Professor Bai. Now, we have finally reached the main speaker of the day whom everyone has been anticipating. Without further delay, let's all give it up for our rising Game Developer Duan Jiaxu!!"
As Ningyi was about to drift off to her dreamland, the unexpected shouts and screams of the students accompanied by a series of clapping woke her up and Xiaoyan excitedly pulled her up to stand. She can't understand who the person was and why was everyone cheering so hard for him but in order to follow along the crowd she lazily clapped her hands with her blurry vision focused on the stage where a young man dressed in a white shirt and a black pants walkes up to the stage holding a microphone in his hands earning massive cheers from the students, especially male students from the technology department.
The hell ? Ningyi looked at the corner of the stage to see if anyone was coming out but none. The guy ─── Duan Jiaxu sat on the couch with a big smile on his face as he greeted the students present inside the stadium.
"Yaoyao, Why didn't you tell that my boss was the special one?!"
Xiaoyan just smiled widely as she sat down and took several pictures of the guy in the middle of the stage "Just enjoy the eye feast"
Ningyi was horrified and Xiaoyan just laughed at her best-friend's reaction "It's not working hour and you get to see him aside from your workplace"
Her sleepiness was gone and her focus was on the guy in the middle of the stage explaining about his recent developments. Xiaoyan was aware of the crush her bestie had for the guy so when she heard that Duan Jiaxu was the main speaker, she had to lie and bring out her bestie or maybe give them a little time to talk if there is a chance after the program
"Mister Duan Jiaxu, would you like to give the students present here some words of encouragement ─── especially towards the students who wish to be a game developer like you and start-up their own company in future?"
Duan Jiaxu stood up from his sofa and walked closer to the end of the stage and smiled at the students. His eyes scanned around the hall and his gaze stopped at the corner when a familiar face popped up.
Ningyi almost stopped breathing as her eyes met with the guy on stage who seemed to recognise her among the pool of students. He look so handsome and gentle.
After a few seconds his gaze went towards the crowd and brought the microphone closer to him "Dear students, everyone keeps on saying that life is a race and indeed it is a race but we should not be too focused on the race as it will lead us to our own destruction and being lost at the end. I had a hard time and a hard path to reach where I am today, from working more than 3 part-time jobs a day along with university and also trying to develop game. It was hard and I am not that saying that your life is easy but ───── all those struggles and hardwork will pay off"
The students were in pin-drop silence that Ningyi could even hear the sound of her bestfriend's heartbeat. No one has ever been this silent during a seminar but this man was the exception.
"Some of you will be lost and confused about your future but it's okay to be lost. Take a break, take a deep breath and start finding what you really wish to be and what you think will make you happy. If you were to work for a company just because it paid a high salary but you are not happy with it, how can you become successful? Follow where your heart and mind leads you"
Ningyi knows that her boss was handsome but seeing him on the stage, holding the microphone and speaking with the handsome smile on his face made her feel a little different. The speech he delivered just now gave her another source of inspiration and strength. It somehow motivated her to work harder and strive forward!
Xiaoyan noticed her best-friend who was focused on Jiaxu on the stage as if time stopped for her except for the guy. She chuckled and slightly knocked her arms "Girl, you're about to shed stars from your eyes Your gaze clearly shows how much of a simp you are for your boss"
Ningyi just chuckled and took out her phone as she snapped two - three pictures of the guy with a smile that never left her face for the whole seminar.
