Growing up, life at home didn't get easier. Her mother become more strict, her father was always at his track and Jules started travelling around for his racing career. She couldn't be prouder of him but the distance often felt unbearable. In 2007, Jules was crowned the youngest ever champion of the French Renault Formula. In 2008, Jules finished third in the ranking of Formula 3 Euro Series and was voted best rookie of the year. In 2010, he joined the Ferrari Driver Academy which helped him get closer to his dream of being in Formula 1. He was overjoyed when he signed the contract, and so was she, but she couldn't help but feel her heart slowly breaking inside of her at the thought of him being so far away and even less home.
The night before his departure, she slipped in his suitcase a nice picture of them she had kept, with a message on its back 'I love you big brother, I will watch all of your races so win them for me ! <3'. She soon observed on her tv, during one of Jules's many interviews, that he had put the picture in his phone case. That made her smile widly and even more when the interviwer asked a question about the picture and Jules answered with a soft and warm smile that it was his little sister. Thanks to the picture, she felt a little closer to her brother even if he was on the other side of the world, miles and miles away.
When Jules's first F1 season came to an end, the 2013 season, he finally came back home for a little longer than 2 weeks. Julie couldn't contain her excitement and ran into her borther's arms as soon as she saw him, which earned her a 5 minutes scolding from her mother, telling her not to act like that in public. But Julie couldn't care less, the most important person in her life was finally back at her side.
For Charles, Julie also did her best following his career. In 2012, Charles was crowned champion of the WSK Euro Series and also finished second in both the European Championship and the U18 World Championship. Julie had congratulated Charles as soon as she had seen him, meaning when Jules could bring him home. She offered him a warm hug which he returned. And she did the same the following year, in 2013 when Charles was second for the World Championship behind Max Verstappen, his rival for years, the same year where he won the Winter Cup.
Despite following attentively her brother's exhilarating career, Julie couldn't say her life was as much. She continued being homeschooled and following her mother's order, nothing exciting.
In 2014, Julie was now 17 years old, soon to be of legal age, in 2015 as her birthday was at the start of the year, in February. She finally asked her parents if she could attend a few races on her own to support her brother and to her surprise, they agreed but not before asking Jules if she would be a bother to him which he, of course, denied. Jules was thrilled to learn that his beloved sister would be joining him this season.
When the first week-end came around, Jules introduced Julie to everyone they ran into. By the end of the week-end Julie had met more people than she had known her whole life. But she didn't mind that, in fact, she soaked up this atmosphere as much as she could, knowing that this was a once in a lifetime experience. The people that marked her most were Daniel Ricciardo with his gigantic smile, Sebastian Vettel who radiated kindness, and Lewis Hamilton who was the only black driver and walked everywhere with his head held high despite the many racists comments which could be heard. His world championship didn't seem to shut racists out. Julie was also relieved to see that her brother was well appreciated in the racing world. Everyone they came across always greeted him with a warm smile, which he reciprocated.
And that year, the 2014 year was something Julie wasn't quite prepared for. In fact, it was going to absolutely wreck her life and she didn't have a clue about that.
