How do you genuinely not know someone's name..? (Well, I mean, after going to school with them for months, seeing them around, and maybe even having them in class. )
In all the romance movies (or books) the main love interest and the main characters always start out by asking each other their names..I mean, you see it everywhere. I just don't get it. Im not complaining..just saying.
Maybe it's me. I'm a pretty observant person. I realize that now that i've compared my level of attention to most peoples'. I might be the only one that pays that much attention to others. I do it subconsciously. I don't mean to care so much..that's just how I am.
For the most part, I remember most everyone that I meet. After a few weeks, I can usually remember the names of everyone in my grade. And no, i don't personally know all those people, I just catch on and learn. In fact, I haven't spoken to most of the people in my grade.
Im not a complete loner..I have my own friends...and then there's the other people. I'm perfectly happy with who I hang out with. I'm content with my social circle. It may not be large, but I have enough friends (at least I think I do).
But anyway, back to how I started this, I still don't understand how you don't know someone's name. Especially after weeks (or months) of having that person in your classes. To me that just debunks romance in books and movies.
For those that don't get it, let me give you an example.. in a book or something you'd see a scenario like this;
(Random new kid at school):
hey..uhh what's your name?
(Other super cool popular kid):
My name's Layne. (Even though I've seen you around for MONTHS and I have many classes with you and have heard your name in conversation, I somehow have no clue who you are)..what's your name..!?
Typically after that happens, both characters become friends and romance becomes a possibility and blah blah blah.
What im trying to say is....
