Even with the overbearing darkness that surrounded them all. Even with the darkness concealing most of the devil's lower body. What Arch's blue light revealed made Izuki's heart race.
Standing high, looming over them both, was a humanoid figure, or at least the upper torso of a human. Everything else is anything but. Where a neck and head should be was non-existent. Two heads took the place of where hands should be, their sunken cheeks, eyes, nose, and visibly retracted lips revealing their teeth resembling a mummy. Below the torso, a wide gaping slit opened to a void, breathing out air so pungent and sharp that Izuki's body rejected inhaling it. He let out a loud sneeze, feeling the acid from his stomach creep up to the back of his throat, causing him to gag. Not even the hospital's morgue could repulse him that much.
"Well... well... what do we have here?" A deep, gurgly voice came out from the devil's slobbery orifice. "Took you long enough, Anglerfish fiend. So long that I almost thought you might have decided to abandon our... arrangement."
"A-arangement?" Izuki's gaze slowly turned from the gigantic devil to Arch. His fear and confusion was quickly replaced by anger. Their eyes locked at each other, his lips began to quiver as he raised his voice at her. "Arch, what is he talking about?!"
His voice echoed in the darkness, yet nothing came out of the fiend's mouth. Instead, she turned her back to him as if he was not there.
The devil let out a gurgly laugh. Its dripping mucus flew out of its mouth, splashing into the water under. It had been a long while since he had watched a scene so entertaining. "You really are as foolish as she said, human."
"What are you saying?"
"Gullible... Easy to trick... Such are the words your little anglerfish friend over here used to describe you.." The devil giggled, revealing one of its elongated humanoid arm—or ratherlegs—from the darkness. Its hand, matching that of the devil's two heads, looked almost skeletal, its long fingers with gnarly nails strung together by a very thin layer of skin. He placed his hand on Arch's head and began to pet her. The sensation of his touch made her silent and shudder. "The anglerfish fiend promised me quite the delectable meal in exchange for freedom...When I heard that your essence was quite special, I could not help but be a little... curious..."
"What are you even-" Izuki's words abruptly halted as a piece of memory flashed through his mind.

Earlier that day, when he visited Makima's office. He asked her the question, hoping to rid of the uneasiness that had slowly brewed in him over the past few days. A worry that only grew when Kaya told him to be careful. He waited for her as she sat and pondered.
"What is it, Makima-san? Is it bad?" He asked.
Makima lightly shook her head. "I would not say it was bad, but it was concerning."
