The hot dry wind was blowing on your faces. The sun cast a beautiful glow on Chris and Martin's orange suits, whom were above you, flying ahead at top speed with all the eagerness to help you monitor the Dragon Tree.
A few minutes later, you finally saw the thick and alien looking branches of the Dragon Tree closer and closer, until you were now flying at the top of the tree, looking at its pointy leaves at the reach of your hand.
You let out a sigh of awe and joyful relief, as you saw the tiny fruits at the top of the tree.
"There they are...!" You said, rejoiced and relieved.
Chris and Martin were flying beside you, each one at one side of you. They were also mesmerized at the interesting features of the tree.
"Do you think it will be able to grow the next generation with those fruits?" Martin asked, curious and concerned.
"I'm not sure... It's too soon to tell. I'll have to take a sample and also scan the tree to get some readings on its health" you said
They both kept looking at the tree like an ill patient, nodding at your words and trusting your judgement.
However, just before you could start working, a very strong wind, even stronger than the normal wind at that altitude, started to blow in your direction and the tree, scaring the three of you.
"Wow, what's happening!?" Chris said, destabilizing his flying.
Martin was also struggling to fly straight with such wind.
Suddenly, a big a threatening figure appeared in the sky, with the tree between you and it.
"Is that...!?" Chris asked
"Gourmand!?" They said in unison
"Huh!?" The guy in the chef attire said when he saw you, "what are you doing here!?"
"We were going to say the same thing!" Chris said, now looking piercingly and suspiciously at him. Martin looked at Gourmand with the same gaze.
"Oh, why.... I'm just here to collect some fruits for a salad!" Gourmand said, shrugging shoulders and looking away with a smile.
Chris and Martin looked at him with disapproval, crossing their arms.
"And you had to pick one of the most endangered plant species to do it?" Martin asked
Gourmand didn't took this well. He raised an eyebrow and said: "and what do you know about plant life!? Aren't you supposed to be looking after your dumb little animals!?"
"Our friend here taught us about this beautiful tree and how people like you are the reason it's almost extinct" Chris said, pointing at you, now upset as well.
Gourmand then turned to see you, and became confused. "And what kind of creature are you supposed to be? Some kind of beetle?" He said.
"Our friend is a researcher with special gear to explore extreme habitats like these and monitor the health of plants" Martin said
"So... A third obstacle to deal with" Gourmand said, looking at you with spite. "Now how am I going to be able to cook if even plants are off the table!?"
"Um... Idunno..." Martin said, "using normal ingredients like a normal person?"
"You guys don't understand what true culinary proficiency looks like" Gourmand said.
Martin and Chris rolled their eyes.
"Well, we're not going to let you take any fruit of this special tree" Chris said, looking firmly at Gourmand and prepared to defend the tree no matter what.
