(A/N: Okay, we're gonna have a little bit of a rewind on Sophie's story, all the way back to book one. Let's pretend only Sophie was kidnapped, and let's pretend that Keefe snuck away at night to come rescue her when she transmitted to him. And let's pretend that the Neverseen drugged her with a truth serum that makes your brain go a little bit cray cray. And also pretend that they already met Ro and stuff. That's basically this story. So enjoy!)

(Keefe's POV)

I slipped into the elevator just as the doors closed. I didn't know who these Black Swan people were, but they were gonna get it.

I had cried for almost two weeks straight. And one day... I heard the most beautiful voice, strained and in pain as she begged me to believe she was still alive. She transmitted her coordinates just as she was knocked out again by the Black Swan.

I didn't hesitate for a moment as I barged into the hideout, a melder and goblin throwing star in my hands.

There was a single person.

A shadowed figure. Leaning down over Sophie. He poured something into her mouth. Then I did something extra stupid.

"Hey, Mr. Drug Guy, I just wanted to drop by. This place really needs some better decoration." My words echoed off the cave as the figure spun.

"Hello, Keefe." I couldn't recognize the voice.

"Who are you?" I asked firmly.

"Your worst nightmare." Suddenly, I knew why the voice was familiar.

"Alvar?" I whispered. His cackle ran through the cave.

"Ever heard of mimicking voices?" He replied. His voice shifted to my dad's. "You're such a disappointment to the family." I almost flinched.

"You might never know who I am. I could be your sister, for all you know." The figure teased. My eyebrows scrunched together.

"I don't have any siblings." I corrected.

"Right, and I'm part of the Black Swan." He said sarcastically in Alvar's voice.

"I have a sister?" I whispered in disbelief.

"Perhaps you would like to meet her." The figure replied. He flipped a switch on the wall and it pulled away, revealing another blonde figure chained to a chair, her ice blue eyes desperate as they stared into mine. "Meet Kira. She bites." He held up his arm that had a bite mark on it.

My eyes widened. I recognized that scar.

"You're Gethen." I whispered. He scowled.

"And you're not getting out alive." He snapped. He held up a knife to Sophie and Kira's throats.

I slowly put my hand on the melder behind my back.

Kira glanced at me. "Keefe, please." She mouthed. Determination rushed through me as I inched closer.

"You know what's funny? I thought the Black Swan was a cool name. Guess not." I replied, trying to stall.

Gethen cackled again. "I'm not part of the Black Swan."

I could tell he was telling the truth. "Then who are you?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" He snapped. I decided to finally put to use my awesome fighting skills. I got close enough and used my leg to trip Gethen as I held the melder up to his chest.

Gethen pushed a button on his necklace and shouted, "I need backup!"

I pulled the trigger and knocked him unconscious. Then I broke open both of their chains. Kira gave me a hug tighter than Foster would've. I carried Sophie bridal style over to the elevator just as I heard running footsteps. The doors closed just as my eyes met with Brant.
